ok, ive been toying with the idea of the clear lexus light jobby for the last couple of days.
I keep on looking at the rear of my car and imaganing what it will look like with clear lights on the a*se.
The red panelling that is on the boot seems to match up nicely to the standard lights, however sum peeps think it will go well, but i have my doubts, so come on peeps.......
CLEAR.....OR NOT TO BE CLEAR?!?!
CLEAR U AFRICAN PLUM PICKER!!
Can you colour code the red panneling?
The whole **** end of the car will look better if it is colourcoded with lexus lights on.
Personally, I aint to keen on them any more, everyone has lexus lights, i quite like new carbon effect lights or smoked lights maybe?
I am looking for an alternative for my civic but, unless i buy from the states, I am limited to the common lexus lights.
how could i colour code those panels and wha colour wud i have to make um to blend in propper like?
well im going to use my can of paint to colour code my like paz. coz aint used it on my spoiler yet
I dont know, be creative.
remove the whole plastic panel (if it is plastic) rub it down with some sandpaper, put a couple coats of plastic primer on, rub that down with some 1200 wet an dry paper (used wet) dry it off, apply enough thin coats of white paint for it to look good, dont let it drip an dont touch it whilst the paints wet! wait for it to dry then a couple of coats of laquer.
leave it for a day or two, the laquer will of hardened then use a bit of rubbing compound on it to make it nice an smooth an give a better shine
MisterAdam sounds like he's after a bit of work!
That would definately look different mate, although I wouldn't go for lexus lights, maybe led's if you can find 'em.
sod that, i had enough trouble painting all my interior parts and done loads of practicing on me arches! haha, im gonna get them done by a professional though as i need the entire panel re-spraying.
i wouldn't mind giving you a hand with it if you want aggy? its upto you like, i can understand if you wouldn't trust me cos if i was you then i wouldn't trust me either <img border="0" alt="[laff my ass off]" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions042.gif" />
i think some afterburners look poo(but thats just me) i've seen some on a mk4 fiesta an they stuck out well to far, they looked hidious, s'pose it depends on the car though as i've seen some which look nice(ish)
Do you really need lights?
Can you have them on the parcel shelf or something?
ah thanx mister adam, u can av a look at the meet on thur if your goin! Ya seem 2 know what ya on about though!
Ok, hows this then, i got sum ideas off a "friend of a friend" last nite, the clear lights could be a go ahead if the boot was to have the pannelling taken off completley and the boot smoothed perhaps?
if you had the boot smoothed it would look swish but would cost you a fair bit more, depends on how much you've got to spend.
well, theres a pretty big mod comin up on my mota next month so it wont be till then!
cool what is it?
i'll have a look at the panel if i come tomorrow night, if its removable then it should be a piece of cake to paint it
wicked, ah im not sayin nuthin, its not a huge mod but its gonna give the car a better look, tell ya nearer the time.
Yeh sure if your comin we can av a look man!
best be alloys, for some reason them rear lights remind me of the MK3 astra, will look much better with a smooth boot.
Get rid of the rear wiper aswell
i know what ya mean new_civic if u look at the lexus lights of aggys shape ibiza and u look at the mk3 astra lights they r exactly the same styled lights. go 4 the lexus lights m8 they look well awsome heres my dads 307 with them on.
so i think the general opinion here is to wait untill the rear is eiter smoothed or red pannelling painted, then go for clear lights....correct?!?!
You ever heard of adobe photo shop??
If you have a simple rear end shot of your car and a pic of the lights you could see what it looks like?
Normally i just use it to change the alloys on my car, or see what it wouls like with different kits on etc. Its a quality software package.
The better quality the picture the better.
