Getting pretty rare these cars now arent they, especially the GTTs. They are no longer the chavs ride of choice. Mate of mine has just bought one,he had a campus 2 years ago but then bought a near new civic type S. Then when he could afford GTT insurance he found himself a goodun (it had to be a "raider" special edition also, fussy sod)

So he brought it to work last week and has been working a lot on it when its quiet (most of the time)

Its pretty standard externally, purple colour only a GTiR bonnet vent and mesh in the grilles in non standard, the wheels are so suited to the car (origional i think, about 16",look like compressor blades with giant centre bits) Interior is clean and engine is fully hosed up in yellow samcos, exhaust done and upped boost, fuelling to match.

Its actually, dare i say it,a nice car. And quick too, when leaving work he let me drive (at the speed limit) away from him for a few seconds before hooning after me and passing me at some ludicrous speed with the engine screaming. I want a go,ill be asking for one tomorrow, and will get him to come to crail with me next month

Anyone know the stats of them standard, and what power is "easily" possible out of them

Dicky off here has recently bought one also wink

Iv heard they are VERY unreliable and the main man StuyMac will agree with me

He has been whinging about not wanting to push it cos the headgasket is really unreliable. Maybe a nice chunky aftermarket one could help, aswell as lowering compression

Just have to agree, fabulous little car, especially the GT Turbo obviously.

Of course the phase 2 belted out a whopping 120BHP and whilst it could not beat the top end speed, it surpassed its "direct" replacement for acceleration, the Clio 16v.

I am not 100% sure, but I have heard of people being able to get around 160BHP out of the beasts, not sure how easy or expensive this would be though.

Of course, the phenominal mid engined Renault 5 Turbo from the early 80's coulld push upto 200BHP at standard, but these are hellish rare (and probably sold even less then the Clio V6).

Either way, amazing little cars, full of character, look good even today because of the GTT legendary status, hopefully one day I will be able to get one as well as a Clio Williams 1.

The mk3 XR3 and XR3i are now of huuuge classic status and i was reading up on em today. Theyre faster as standard than the mkV XR3 130! Just how much did the ****s weigh. I really want a light car
