allrite people am thinkin ov gettin a 2ltr vectra sri 140bhp does any1 know if they are nippy or slow?
Posted By: Macca GSI Re: vectra sri - 9th Feb 2006 10:29am
There quite fast mate but there a very big motor! and the astra mk3 and mk4 has the same engine so there always goin to be faster coz there a lighter motor!

that 2ltr vectra sri has the ecotec engine, which courtency sport can do loads to.

140BHP suggests it might be fairly quick once it gets going.

0 - 60 of about 9.5/10 secs?
Posted By: Cali_16v Re: vectra sri - 9th Feb 2006 11:46am
my birds dad has one of them it can shift for a tub
Posted By: scoop Re: vectra sri - 9th Feb 2006 6:45pm
whats the dif between this and the SRI 150? obviously 10 BHP but how did they get that 10BHP (bigger engine?)

They seem ok cars, but i wouldnt buy one
Posted By: Dazza Re: vectra sri - 9th Feb 2006 7:01pm
They do a 130 and 150 SRI
My dad had the 130, it was more of a 'luxerious' quick
Posted By: Cali_16v Re: vectra sri - 10th Feb 2006 10:08am
scoop its the same engine just little tweeks dont to it to increase the power.

as dazza says it will never knock your socks off unless you do some serious power mods but nice car with a bit of poke. i would have one if i had to to do motorway miles.

got it! i will be down the rock on tuesday in it.
Posted By: Cali_16v Re: vectra sri - 11th Feb 2006 9:47am
scoop, i have looked into it. the sri 120 is 1.8 the sri 140 is the x20xev engine from the late calibra 16v eco-tec and the sri 150 is the 2.2 which is the same as the one in macca GSI's astra. so really the vectra sri 140 only has 134bhp

uve been daft mate, well and truly. IMO

this car uve got ur payin 2500 a year for Third party only and it aint even fast.Check a quote online for a 2.0 mondeo 136BHP and 136ft/lbs torque, easily upped to 140+ with zorst and air filter, the car will be cheaper and insurance loads cheaper (as long as u dont get the "Si") cos ur car says SRi theyre arse rapin u
Posted By: jonny vectra sri Re: vectra sri - 11th Feb 2006 9:23pm
faster dan ur car tho init
Posted By: Dazza Re: vectra sri - 11th Feb 2006 9:27pm
Its also heavier, the way you drive it you wont last long with the police how they are around here
Posted By: jonny vectra sri Re: vectra sri - 11th Feb 2006 9:27pm
thanks scooby
Posted By: jonny vectra sri Re: vectra sri - 11th Feb 2006 9:45pm
not even fast??? allrite m8 it might not be a buggati veyron but its fast enough 4 me.
Posted By: scoop Re: vectra sri - 11th Feb 2006 10:08pm
fast enough for u,there are plenty of equally fast cars out there that wont cost u that much to insure.surely there are 2.0 CD vectras out there? get a quote on one of them,go on,humour me. Itll be 1k cheaper at least i bet, then u just pick up the bits it has from a scrappy,or owners forum, whats it got?? white dials?a spoiler?those the only differences?even if theyre not,its still cheaper to buy a non sports model and mod it up to SRI spec
Posted By: jonny vectra sri Re: vectra sri - 11th Feb 2006 10:16pm
i will do another quote then for a 2.0CD
Posted By: Cali_16v Re: vectra sri - 11th Feb 2006 10:18pm
The sri has uprates suspension bodykit spoiler differnet alloys better 0-60 times, (dunno how).

but i do have to agree for someone like yourself it would of been clever to buy a 2.0 cdx or even a club just to start with.

Think you have been a bit soft really. You will be selling that car within 6 months mark my words.

Also if you cant afford the insurance you will have no spare cash for petrol which it will drink i know mine does. and mines about the same weight but a bit more power and i dont drive like a loony most of the time i know if i plant my foot i can see the needle drop to the red from a quater tank.

You would of been better off getting a 1.8 astra or 1.6 corsa or even a 1.8 corsa which would be faster than your vectra.

Or even as said above the escort/ mondeo 130 spec engine is 136bhp with is the same as your engine and it would be in a lighter car.

Dont get me wrong i like the vectra SRI and the gsi 2.6 V6 GSi. but for your age and experience if the car dont kill you the running costs will.

Get some pictures up and shows us what where missing out on.

(p.s i'll have you a race sometime always wondered what the eco-wreck engine was like compared to the red-top)
Posted By: jonny vectra sri Re: vectra sri - 11th Feb 2006 10:22pm
its exactly the same price £5723.55. i dont care anyway i like the car and its got space to move around so its ok init

stop pickin on me every1 lol
Posted By: jonny vectra sri Re: vectra sri - 11th Feb 2006 10:26pm
i dont drive like a dick ed i never do.
Posted By: Scooby Re: vectra sri - 11th Feb 2006 10:55pm
Back off a bit peeps plz....

Did you try the insurance supermarket for insurance ??

If so what was the best quote ?

Personally i would choose a smaller car that will be just as fast due to it being lighter.

example :

2.5 Vectra with 200 BHP and weighing 2 tons (2000 kg) will give you 100bhp per ton and do 0 - 60 in 12 secs.

1600 fiesta with 100 bhp and weighing 1 ton (1000kg) will also give you 100 bhp per ton and will also do 0-60 in 12 secs.

The fiesta will be cheaper insurance, cheaper fuel and just as fast.

Im not saying to get a fiesta but its worth considering going for a smaller engined & Lighter car as it will be just as fast as the heavier/more powerfull car.

Mister adam got a Toyota Scarlet Turbo quite cheap and cheap insurance, something worth thinking about ??

Insurance is DEAD Money, just dont like to see you throwing your money away mate, But after saying all of that if you have your heart set on the vectra then go for it as its your money....
Posted By: jonny vectra sri Re: vectra sri - 11th Feb 2006 11:15pm
just tried the insurance supermarket the cheapest they could do is £4564.26 never mind i can pay the insurance so may aswell go 4 it an i like it its a nice car.
Posted By: Scooby Re: vectra sri - 11th Feb 2006 11:46pm
Its huge money for private insurance mate but as long as your happy at the end of the day, Good luck happy
Posted By: red20 Re: vectra sri - 12th Feb 2006 12:45am
you must shop around alot more ive got a corsa with a 2.0 16v engine in i got quotes ranging from £1800 which am paying now all the way to £5798 an that was with a 15% discount
Posted By: scoop Re: vectra sri - 12th Feb 2006 12:53am
doh doh doh 2.5k for 12 months, and if the car is stolen or burnt u get **** all. If u crash into someone then theyre car gets fixed and urs is left in a heap.Ever taken that into consideration, its like me buying a Focus ST. The insurance wud put me off,and i'd never insure a car TPFT let alone TP

End of the day its up 2 u,but y not save this 2.5k by buying a smaller car thatll only cost 1k and the insurance 1k also, if u dont mind me asking how much was the car,and how much insurance was ur last car?
Posted By: jimbo4x4 Re: vectra sri - 12th Feb 2006 1:28am
Try churchill and tesco mate, they seem to be the cheapest atm.
Posted By: jonny vectra sri Re: vectra sri - 12th Feb 2006 9:42am
