I`m currently searching for a new car..

I have now finished with my Xsara now i have moved into my new house...

So Today did some insurance shopping and car shopping and heres what i have my eye on..

• W reg Golf GTI Turbo
• T reg Audi A3 1.8T

What you guys and gals think of these, or any other suggestions???

A3 turbo for sure mate, out of the 2 anyway, only other options i can think of is to go jap? or a big engined small car (transplant)

Why u say the Audi??

Want to stay away from engine transplant, for insurance purposes....

All depends what sort of age car you want and how much you u want to spend!

Out of the two I'd say the Audi, coz it's not as common on the modding scene. Not a big fan of either though. I'm sure you could change my mind though

struggling to find a company to insure me on a scooby or evo...

Audi everytime how many modded one's do you see. Apart from Jims and a red one knockin about the wirral i havent seen many but you do see loads of golfs go on be different. You have proved what you can do with a car so try the Audi

Out of the two mate definetly the Audi for modding potential but both two good potential base cars with similar engines in the end it what you prefer mate!

id deffo got for the audi m8.

if ur gonna be modding its gonna be more expensive to do up the audio, less parts available!! although the audio is better u cud make a golf look nicer for cheaper, just make sure whicheva 1 u get is a 3 door!!

German cars are nice but I would think firstly about whats going to be cheapest to keep maintained and modify if you are going down that road!!

Audi's are quite Expensive when it comes to spares I think.

I would personally get a jap type Car , Subaru, Honda, Nissan, Toyota, some of them maybe not as stylish as the audi's but parts and modifying are easy and cheap, you would be surprised at how cheap Subaru spares and bits are (Get a Scooby!!)

If you could afford to insure a focus RS that would be the way to go, but they are pricey on the insurance, i checked a few quotes out and theyre stupid amounts! Lovely motors tho!

almost the same car so either would be great. but why not go for a challange instead something with 4 doors and a boot. make it intresting.

OR Get an Anniversary edition Golf Gti 1.8T. Theyre hard to come by but theres sumtimes 1 or 2 in auto trader. they look the nuts and are pretty rapeeedo!

The A3 and the golf are essentially the same car, so they wont be too different to drive.

Id have a Mint escort cosworth over a brand new evo or scooby. But thats a few years away yet
Out of those two i would choose the Audi for sure.

Great mate. VW can map it up? never knew that. Wont an aftermarket chip do a better job?? R32 Kit suits it down to the ground, not too much but definately somethin special. Well nice mate

for £7000 you would be a lot better getting a V6 4motion mate! A lot more for ya money, have a gander!

v6 4 motion is only pushing 200 BHP, and no different in style..

the GTI is only 150BHP acordin to VW! how will they map another 70BHP on to it?

its the same engine as the 220 BHP tt, just set up differently on the ecu, can be remapped to that BHP easily

I'd say the TT must have other mods. More aggro cams,thinner head gasket etc...

Test drove another golf today and its quick, 150mph+ easily...

Deffo getting one just got sort out the cash and sell mine...

150+?! madness!! from a gti. The deisels are better, a "powerbox" ups it from 150BHP to 200BHP and ups the torque loads, i think its just a new chip. not that expensive
