bas****s!! mad

i hate ... like this mad

any chance of getting the cd's finger printed by the 5-0?

clifford are great alarms but aftersales problems can be expensive, they want £30 just to plug their computer into your alarm which it pants

alarms are all good and well and do make most car crimanals run away but if its someone who knows what their doing it wont make much diffirence to them someone of a person i know tells them they do it all the time and its not on theres no need 4 it, people put a lot of time and effort into their cars and ppl can do that

Looks like they were just oppertunists mate as they wernt well prepared, Good job you had the alarm fitted though.

Alarms are great for the oppertunist theif as in your case, just ... having a go in a car park or somit. If they were professional theifs you need more than a normal alarm or clifford fitted. A Pro will get his target no matter what.

This is where G.P.S. Tracking comes into its own.

I have a "Tracker" and a catagory 2 thatcham alarm & immobiliser factory fitted to my Scooby.

This means that even if they do get past the alarm they then have the immobiliser to get past before they can start the car, even if they were wizz kids and got past that then the tracker would kick in notifying the police the vehicle is being stolen and the exact location being relayed to traffic vehicles in the area allowing them to "Track" the vehicle immediatly.

Costs a few bob but worth it in the long run i would say.

Also, if this happens the police recover your car, stay with your vehicle until a "Tracker" security guard attends your vehicle and then "Tracker" delivers your vehicle to any destination of your choice within the U.K. and the security Guard stays with your vehicle until it is safely delivered to your destination, Only then will the security guard leave your vehicle....

Now thats an alarm.....

However, i am gutted for you man, but looks like you got away lightly.

These days, if people want to steal your car, theyre gonna do it. Its all well and good having an alarm and immobiliser, but all they theives have gotta do is take your keys. Then youre ****ed. But thats where a tracker comes into its own.

Is it easy to get past a tracker?

Sometimes with the value of cars, is it worth spending money on one?
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Car Broke Into - 4th Oct 2004 1:23pm
The only way to get past a tracker is to find it on the car, and remove it - even then, the tracker company will be able to guide the police to the "Trackers" location - its like a little homing beacon smile

Tracker costs varys, but as a rough guide your looking at £400 supplied and installed, then either a set price for cover as long as you own the car (About £300+) or a subscription per yer (About £10-£15) per month.

Get a high performance, high risk car, and a lot of insurance companies wont insure you without one eek

The way I see it, there are 2 types of car theif, the oppertunist and a professional.

The oppertunist will break in to your car and steal whats in it, or want to joy ride, along with the obvious alarm / imobiliser, a good deterant is to hide a kill switch to the ignition or fuel pump or remove an HT lead or something - this should render the car undrivable.

The professional car theif will be much more determind to get a car, and despite complex alarms / imobilisers, chances are they will get your car either by towing it or putting it on a flatbed truck and not even try to start it there and then. This is where a tracker comes in as the car will probably be taken somewhere to be stripped for parts or exported from the country frown

Yeah, I tried to get insurance on a £2500 Polo G40 and they wanted it to have a tracker fitted to insure me and a cat 1 alarm.

Who wants to nick a 10 year old polo?

Even then they only quoted me about £600.

My boss had a £40k BMW 4x4 stolen (complete with tracker), unfortunatly she was away for the weekend at the time and didnt report it untill she got back. never got any of that back.

Is it true, if you ship the whole car abroad and "own" it for 6 months it legally becomes yours? Cant remember which country though.
