Thats bound to be a very nippy saxo, but i hate saxos and 106s dont bother me really. Its up to u mate, but i'd say keep the 106.If u want it supercharged go for it heh? I was lookin at a supercharger in the fast ford mag as apparently the one form the mini can fit. And also found a company who turbo the 1800ZETEC

Posted By: Scooby Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 11th Dec 2005 10:44pm
raftl raftl raftl

Tell you what mate, you become a saxo driver......
Posted By: Gary Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 11th Dec 2005 10:53pm
i know abit more about that car now so i wont.

hmm 5k on a 200 bhp hatch that weighs less than 900kg or 10k PLUS (ball park) on one of the slower skylines thats been barried to the max, by max power (even the guy that got it for free didnt want it)
Posted By: jimbo4x4 Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 12th Dec 2005 12:44am
Sounds great fella, and a real sleeper too. Get it and change the colour, and do something about the sexy lace under the bonnet too lol:

The amount of work involved in supercharging is immense, it's more than bolting on one from another car. New pistons and rods, new one-off fabricated inlet, new manifold, one-off pulleys, it's beyond a total rebuild, and it'll break every week.

Stock Skyline would be quicker than a SC'd Saxo.
Posted By: Gary Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 12th Dec 2005 8:13pm
but we're talking about that skyline loaded with crap ICE but, oh im sorry, that wing adds about 40 bhp so must be quick.

apparently that skyline aint even the quickest one of them. so to a hundred i knwo where my money would go

Posted By: Cali_16v Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 12th Dec 2005 8:44pm
sorry if your into drift and D1 then the skyline is amazing, your right it isnt the fast of them all but its a drift master thats why its RWD. If scooby was going for 4WD then i dont think he would have drift decals on it it would be more HKS and blitz etc etc. there is a difference in all cars depending in what style you want to go for. the saxo is great for traffic light grand prix. the skyline is a drifter. there fore two different cars, two different opinions. personall saxo not my cup of tea but a lot of work has gone into it and would make for a quicker banger.
Posted By: Gary Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 12th Dec 2005 8:44pm
so a supercharged VTS with 220 brake at the fly that weights tops 800kg against .........

a big huge skyline, yes quick, (not one of the quickest) loaded with ICE possibly batterd engine wise.

but jay just turn the boost up hey, sure to go faster then
Posted By: Gary Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 12th Dec 2005 8:46pm
im talking 0-100, drift wise yes the liner owuld win but even on the lanes the saxo would take some beating
Posted By: scoop Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 12th Dec 2005 9:37pm
That saxo weighs more than 800Kg thats for sure. The factory kerbweight is more than that. And "down the lanes" it'd get cained by the liner. How much power that liner but out, and,as is always said. How much torque.

However, this isnt about what is the better car, clearly the skyline is but a)u couldnt afford the liner and B)u dont want the liner.u want a 200BHP chavmobile.each to their own. Not havin a pop mate, just my opinion
Posted By: Gary Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 12th Dec 2005 10:14pm
saxo's are abit chav yes. but that is by no means chav its got over 200 brake and a decent set of alloys and lowered FFS. out of the 2 the liner is a lot more chav by MILES.

my 106 standard is 950. strip that saxo and you'd get it to between 800-850kg, not hard.

scoop down the lanes it would not get caned by a liner AT ALL. its a big heavey huge car against a light hot hatch that would possibly match it to bhp per tonne

and if asking what is the better car all depends how much money you like to waste and what you want out of a car a) shock people b) look a complete pillac
Posted By: DavidB Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 12th Dec 2005 10:19pm
Skyline = typical Japanese overengineering
Saxo = French

Throw a new gearbox, crankshaft, etc that'll take the beating of a tiny, underpowered eaton supercharger (I've got one - you wonder why mini owners replace them) as well. You may as well put a new engine from a 'better' car in there, if it'll fit in. I'm not having a go at you, I'm having a go at over-optimism.
Posted By: Gary Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 12th Dec 2005 10:22pm
not the 68 s'charger though its the 74

and RR'd at 218 or sumat at the fly

french is not all bad mate, make some of the best hot hatches ever built
Posted By: Sanchez Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 12th Dec 2005 10:44pm
look, it doesn t matter if the saxo could beat an f1 car car, the fact is its a poorly built car, its small, dated, unsafe, chavy, crap, poorly made, not japaneese, ugly, small, uncomfortable, unpleasant, horrible french, its just shit, oooooooooo its fast, wow, other than that, its a bag of shit, thats why he s gettin rid, and why on ebay there are a million saxo s for sale, id seriously rather drive a primara than that, at least its sensible, you should only buy a car like that if you have a runner, mind u i had a runner, and that civic still got me down, plus do you realise how much in petty it willll cost to run, stick with your 106. or go for some thing better made
Posted By: DavidB Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 12th Dec 2005 11:29pm
I'm not saying they're bad cars, the engineering is a bit ancient though.
And I'm not saying you shouldn't get that Saxo either, it's looks awesome. wink
Posted By: mp3_85 Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 13th Dec 2005 6:21pm
LOL GARY THINKS THE SKYLINE IS CRAP, and the Saxo is better!?

keep takin the pills mate,

raftl
Posted By: Gary Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 13th Dec 2005 6:45pm
the skyline for a skyline is god damn awful its crap

and i did not say ANYWERE the saxo is better!

but to a hundred i think its quicker than the liner in question

so you lay off the pills and read a bit better eh
Posted By: mp3_85 Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 13th Dec 2005 11:01pm
doh raftl

gotcha...
Posted By: Paul R Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 14th Dec 2005 3:29pm
You going to swap?
Posted By: Mark Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 14th Dec 2005 4:44pm
Is it not worth splitting the diffrence Garry?

What i mean is you hoping to get the car for £5000.

What about putting £2500 into you car you have now?

----
I think alot of drivers get alot more satisfaction out of work they have had done to there cars, rarther than buying someone elses idea's.

Its the same old storey your going to have to put your mark on it pretty quick if you went for it? As it would always be "The bloke before me".

I say if you want to become a saxo driver go for what ever will give you the most pleasure and the least head aches.

I think the car you have now is sweet,
unless i'm missing somthing?
Posted By: Gary Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 14th Dec 2005 6:55pm
no im not going to do it found out a few things about it now so,

webby if it only cost 2.5k to S/C mine then i would lol but costs about double that
Posted By: jimbo4x4 Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 14th Dec 2005 8:04pm
For £2.5K you could easily have a 2.0l under your bonnet.
Posted By: Gary Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 14th Dec 2005 8:07pm
not in mine i couldnt matey
Posted By: jimbo4x4 Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 14th Dec 2005 8:49pm
I'm sure for £2500 you could get something that'd give as much power as a supercharger think B18 like andy had in his civic, generates 190bhp@fly standard, I know it's from a different manufacturer but for that kinda money it's more than likely possible. I have a vauxhall engine and box in the samurai, all went in for a touch over £1600.

Surely a 2.0l red top would fit?
Posted By: scoop Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 14th Dec 2005 9:17pm
Ur cars a GTI right gary? Surely thats quick enough as is,a few choice mods and u should see over 150BHP fly, then 50-75 of spray and that has to be fast enough for you til u can afford a proper car.U plan on driving a supermini all ur life,i think u'll grow out of it and start wanting a good car in a year or so (ie,2l turbo coupe or saloon) I want out of the hatchback game now and into the world of 200SXs or MR2s
Posted By: jimbo4x4 Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 14th Dec 2005 9:24pm
There's something to like about having a pocket-rocket, I wouldn't have one as my only car but would like to do something similar one day. A nova rally car with a red top in or something, just for a little blast the odd weekend and for trackdays smile (sorry gary - thread hijack over)
Posted By: Gary Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 14th Dec 2005 10:33pm
no im not soft enough to stick nos in my car, just askin for trouble

for 2k i can get cams re-mpa 4-2-1, exhaust etc etc that would see 170 reliable but S/C is 50 more!

only one guy i know of has stuck an MI16 in a gti, and when he rang ecosse for help they told him it oculdnt be done. thats how hard it is
Posted By: Cali_16v Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 15th Dec 2005 9:55am
That guy who put the MI-16 in the 106 need a wide arch kit and didnt they say it was somewhere around £10'000 in labour alone???

Remember reading it in a mag. hell of car. why dont you just get a turbo conversion from pug-performance .
Posted By: Gary Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 15th Dec 2005 6:42pm
lol cus thats about 3k anyway and ive heard A LOT of bad things about PP
Posted By: StuyMac Re: should i become a saxo driver? - 16th Dec 2005 3:12pm
I oughta give you a slap for starting such a thread yes

And just think all the Saxo slating you have done in the past.... tease

And 220bhp in an 800kg car - beating a decent power skyline to 100 eek Id like to see the Saxo get a decent start without just sitting there and scrabbling wink
