Well i have been told i am allowed tog et my new car if i can get finance (im bankrupt so will be difficult). so i thought i would run some insurance quotes through the tinterweb.

So started off finding a car. saw a vauxhall vectra 2.2LS DTi. 2002 model.

so fully comp is £1045.00 and i can get TPf&t for £570.00.

that works out on TPF&T £80 cheaper than insurance for the calibra. So i can get a one owner car and pay less on insurance. Will have to try it with the audi next.

How many ncb you got, who was the quote with?

I would'nt consider anything other than fully comp.

go the fully comp from confused.com, and then got the TPFT of quinn direct.

I havent got any NCB as im on my dads policy. but quinn direct take into account driving experiance. so they give me 2 years intro NCB plus im over 25 so i get a nice big discount for being old.

I can get insured for little over £500 fully comp on that car.

I always found direct line, churchill and privilege to be the cheapest.

Top Tip:
RING the company Confused say will insure you, as they must add alittle on to make profit so you can get it cheaper again.

(Bloody Insurance salesman should know this tease )

Have you had any quotes from Liverpool Victoria? It would be interesting to see what they quote you as from what I have seen, for younger drivers they are the dogs bollox, but for older drivers they are simply bollox with their quotes smile

Try bell.co.uk. Theyre cheap as fook for me (400 for my escort, just over 500 for an S13 for me)

try elephant

Try Liv vic

Try the people confused got u the quote thru (however, confused get the quote cheap from them, then apply commision, but they get it cheap cos they have a contract with the company and get the company lots of business so thats why they get it cheaper than u can, just depends how much they top it up with comission)

Either way that is ****loads of money (going on dads insurance aint the best plan is it)

TBh i have done a quote qith quinn direct directly and it was the same price from them or through confused.com on the calibra. so they dont add anything on. if you chose to buy the policy it sends you to their site to buy the policy.

dazza im not an insurance salesman. i was 3 years ago and i do keep my ear to the ground but things change.

all the companies your all suggesting are good. but can be a let down when it comes to the excess. like some of them have a £400 excess as standard and you dont know its that high so you think i'll bring it down a bit and give a volentary excess of say £250 then you have an accident and you are rightly shafted.

Thats what tesco do and direct line. also most of the other compaines that have something to do with RBS. plus N-U have there problems. unless you know a few tricks of the trade which im sure i have shared with some people.

u say an excess cud ping u? so could going thrid part on a car worth a few grand. U prang it and u have to pay to fix ur own car.or if its a write off u've wasted a few grand

You can't control other idiots on the road.

What if someone crashes into you and does a runner?

I have seen it oh so many times, and i have reported it to the police/victim each time lol.

if its bad enought to write of a vectra/a4 then i dont think they would be driving anywhere.

But it does not have to be a write off mate. And say you do cause the crash (through a simple error or likewise) or the blame cannot be pinned on anyone or something, if the 3rd parties insurance will not cover you, the bill could go into thousands to get the car fixed.

I was lucky with my Weber that the 3rd party admitted all liability when I had a crash, otherwise the car would not have been covered and I would not have been paid out.

Also, don't forget that they dont have to be a write off, they can cause a crash which can leave your car a write off, but still get away.

If your going to drive a car worth thoudands, I think your best going fully comp, just to be safe and also put your mind at rest.
