Waaayyy i fonally got it and now its on the road. Some of you may have seen it already but ive been keeping it pretty quiet because i normally get bad luck when i talk to much about a potential purchase.

I couldnt be bothered buying a runabout so i just cancelled my policy and started a new one, so im on the road aswell.

First i have to say thanks to chris for suggesting an S14. He put the idea in my head and said a well sorted one is far better then an S13. He was right. Best decision ive made. although i miss the pug, this cars midrange more then makes up for it and its as quick as the 13 once its going, yet feels so much better put together and refined.

I havnt really got many plans for it yet, just a few rough ideas but i know where i want to go performance wise already. Im probably going to get some cheap front aero for now and be happy with that.

Heres some specs and pictures for now anyways.

Engine had a full £9,000 rebuild in 2007 to the spec below, but after a cooling problem whilst on a dyno it was fully stripped, checked and refreshed in August 2008 costing another £4,000

Sweet well done Jones.

Looks good Dave matey agree with Chris they are better al round (ish) but i have a soft spot for the 13.

PS dont ever say the 14s better than a 13 on sxoc or dw though you'll get raped lol

Or a 13's better than a 14 lol

or a 15;s better than them both lol

or lol i could go on ps/sil80/14/14a/15 and so on

have to say Dave ,that boost controller is cool as feck thumbsup
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan 200sx S14a - 24th Sep 2009 10:43pm
Nah tony, but i wouldnt mind an RB'd S13.

Ive just ordered a new skidbrake button so thatll be going on soon, plus, when i get round to them, my 6x9's, amp and sub.

I went for a drive before to get fuel and a little drive about, and the car felt fine but it wasnt boosting. At first i thought bugger, boost leak / manifold crackage going on. But it was staying stoich and everything seemed fine, just no boost until like 4000rpm. Turns out id accidentally turned the boost controller to B mode, or slow mode, so everything was truned down and making a frankly homosexual 8psi. I had a look on t'interweb and i know enough about how to work it now without blowing anything up. But to be honest, me and boost controllers dont go, never been able to understand HKS ones so its best i dont play, especially considering theres a scramble mode.

Nice one chris. Ill keep that link, but as i said, its best i dont play.

I was bored before so ive been playing again.

Took that ugly big plastic thing off the front that holds the number plate then remounted the plate. Put a few more ties on the bumper too to support it more, and relocated the cold air feed so it doesnt sit wonky anymore.

Not worth taking a picture of really, tbh not even worth mentioning but im still bored.

Found a few sets / pairs of nice wheels knockign about, at much lower prices then expected. Im not going to buy loads of wheels this time, just one extra full set, and a few pairs, but all nice wheels. Im trying to sort something on a set of wheels that i personally love so ill update soon on that front.

I was on the way to pick up some rotas on friday when it cut out on me at a set of lights. Then it was really badly misfiring, and now ive got it home it wont even start.

Im not speaking to it at all now. Might get a can of petrol and a lighter to sort it out......
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Dave100e : Nissan 200sx S14a - 7th Oct 2009 3:33pm
Have you checked the plugs - if they are all black and sooted up it will be a boost leak and it wont restart as the plugs are too sooted up - if you want a fresh set of eyes to have a look - gimmie a shout smile
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan 200sx S14a - 7th Oct 2009 5:38pm
The plugs have been checked, seemed ok.

I havnt had a boost leak i dont think. My A/F ratio gauge has been reading spot on, and i watch that like a hawk all the time.

Got your PM. I might be interested in your coilpacks to eliminate those though.

Nah, it wont even start now.

Either of you are welcome to come down if you have the free time. Any time at all. Itd be appreciated.
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan 200sx S14a - 10th Oct 2009 4:44pm
Im charging the battery up now because ive been trying to start it. But when its been turning over it seems to fire once and then stop and intermittently fire now and then.

Ive had a look at as much wiring and sensors i can see and they seem ok.

My engine check light had lit up twice within 20 minutes of it cutting out. It was under heavy braking and i only saw a glimps in the corner of my eye and thought it was ABS. Had a look before and the ABS light is on the other side. Any ideas?

Do you reckon its worth checking coilpacks aswell?
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Dave100e : Nissan 200sx S14a - 10th Oct 2009 6:39pm
If it spark related it could be the power transistor on the N/S front inner wing, coil packs or CAS...
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan 200sx S14a - 10th Oct 2009 7:02pm
Well before i was getting compression and i could smell fuel after turning it over, makes me thing spark.

Ill have a look at the transistor tommorow.
Ill need a set of coil packs to test.
The CAS wires look fine, its one of the things i checked.

Do you think youd be free to come round one day to have a look?
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Dave100e : Nissan 200sx S14a - 10th Oct 2009 7:22pm
Maybe later tomorrow afternoon - I have spare coilpacks, a spare transistor and spare CAS. If the CAS Has failed its likely to be the unit itself rather than the wiring...
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan 200sx S14a - 10th Oct 2009 7:55pm
Fair enough. I think Chris might be coming round at some point to have a look aswell. Ive checked a few things but im lost as to what i can do now other then trying parts.
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan 200sx S14a - 21st Nov 2009 2:29am
After having the none running problem, which was down to many factors all adding up (shit plugs, shit battery, shit ignition amplifier and too much fuel pressure) i finally got the car back.

It was great. I even went to Aberystwyth last wednesday and came home on sunday. It was epic fun on the slightly damp roads and i dont think ive ever enjoyed a drive so much. It never missed a beat though all they way and didnt use as much fuel as i was expecting.

Now its broke again, barely 2 weeks after getting it back. One of the brake hoses from the brake cylinder to the ABS unit has been kinked by a previous idiot and mustve eventually split with vibrations. Hopefully itll be fixed during the week but its just really annoying.

In the mean time Ive bought a fancy rev counter as the standard one has stopped working (common S14 problem) and as its likely to go again if i resolder the circuit anyway, i dont see the point of repairing it, so im fitting my new one on the cowling infront of the original counter. Pictures when fitting. Its a bit like the one i had on the RS turbo only far far better quality and not a cheapo ebay special.

Easy fix though matey
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan 200sx S14a - 9th Dec 2009 11:48pm
Thought id update before i go to bed innit.

I managed to get a pipe off a lad whos breaking his 14a. chris came over and fitted it but it wouldnt bleed. Turns out my master cylinder seals have gone but i couldnt tell at first because the brakes werent bled because of a dodgy nipple and shite weather. If got brakes now but theyre not brilliant so i wont use teh car unless necesary but at least i can use it now.

Trying to get hold of a second hand cylinder or if needs be, a rebuild kit.

Chris is going to do some wiring for me too and then its MOT time and probably a massive bill for repairs, as usual.

If its not a massive bill then i have a short list of bits im after such as a T28r/rs and 550cc injectors. I could sell my current T28 and 480cc (S15) injectors to cover some of the costs then i could push for around 340-370bhp, as dscussed with chris, the region before gearbox failure can be a probem. So instead of 400bhp ill be happy with 360bhp. Ive found a little ducktail spoiler i want too.

As usual though, ill probably change my mind and not do anything ive suggested above.

Ahhhh...so youve found your spoiler mate. Least youll leave mine alone then raftl

At least you know the problem with your brakes. Nothing worse not knowing what something is. Just gotta work towards getting it all done now.

Youll be getting there happy

Ive got a couple lined up just incase theyre all no good. First one will be delivered by saturday hopefully. If thats no good i can get another probably by tuesday so we'll see.

Went out for a little drive today and i really miss driving it. Looking forward to Oulton feb skid day next year.

Oh i got meself an aux lead too. Been after one for ages but could never find one/it cost £47 billion/theyd run out of stock. got the last one in Tesco today so now i have MP3 tunage on the go.

Not sure, mid feb though.

I fitted 10mm rear spacers roday for my Rotas because their offset is gash. ET35 is now ET25, its a lot better. Its amazing what 10mm can do, and its not teh first time ive heard that before.

got pictures too, pre spacers though.

Here are the two spoilers i fancy. Not sure what make they are, im just hoping theyre not really rare expensive. ill do some research on them when im ready to buy one. I have a feeling the white on is a Rocket bunny one though, so mega monies. The other ive seen a few times before, im not 100% itd go well on a 14a but you never know.

[Linked Image]

If i cant get one of them im thinking super low not over the top BGW.
Posted By: spinking Re: Dave100e : Nissan 200sx S14a - 11th Dec 2009 9:38pm
Dave the 2nd ones fail matey it wouldnt work on your 14

The top one is a rocket bunny spoiler so dig DEEEEEEEEEEEEEP into the pockets

Dave a shall be getting one of these when i get a 2nd boot

http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=426896
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan 200sx S14a - 11th Dec 2009 9:43pm
They look stupid in my opinion and just wouldnt look right on my unkitted car. They even look stupid on those Japspeed cars. an average height BGw is ok on a hovercraft kit like yours, or a drag type low mount BGW looks good too.

I thought that was a rocket Bunny one.

I prefer the little Wangan style 'ducktail' lip spoilers though.
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Dave100e : Nissan 200sx S14a - 12th Dec 2009 1:37am
BGW can look ok on some cars, but then utter gash on others. Its a matter of taste really, and what you're trying to achieve overall. If the money has been spent on full on bodykits ok. But if not then they look Over engineered and pointless in my view.

Dave, Im liking the idea of your Lip style spoiler. Seems like something that hasnt been done extensively before. How i this for you?

Click me Mr Dave...
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan 200sx S14a - 14th Dec 2009 11:20pm
Yep, everythign is function over form on my car bar a few bits, so no BGW's for me.

Ive seen those Craig, its what budda has on his now. They look good but i prefer it to only be as wide as the boot, without over hanging, and stick up more. A Gurney flap type jobbie or a ducktail like the Rocket Bunny one would be great.

Chris wired up my Rev counter today and sorted a few bits n bobs out. Weve found teh source of the bleeding problem so that will be tackled in due course. Nice one for the help Chris.
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan 200sx S14a - 2nd Jan 2010 10:46pm
Ive found a 6666 spoiler (the rocket bunny ones) for £270 ish. There is also an SRB power carbon M3 style lip spoiler (copy of Originlabs) for £140.

Im doing a big brake / internal rear drum handbrake conversion, so depending on how that goes and how much it costs will decide which spoiler i get. I could be getting a cheap R32 GTR conversion, if not itll be a DB power 330mm big brake front and a mixed set up on the rear. There will be roughly £200 differnce, possibly more, so that will vary my choice of spoiler.

If i get the 6666 one i will also get a front bumper, of which im struggling to find one i like. One that doesnt have any 'hovercraft' qualities yet doesnt have all sorts of gaping holes and random, pointless slits and gashes. As i spoke to Chris today, im a wheel whore and hope in the not too distant future to go for something like 17x9.5 ET12's and i will get somethign like JUN arches or overfenders, just to set it off. All of that just because i want a 6666 ducktail spoiler.
Posted By: spinking Re: Dave100e : Nissan 200sx S14a - 3rd Jan 2010 1:12am
Dave matey the bunny spoiler is in my opinion one of the best looking spoilers for any s body goodlad

as for the internal rears WHY????

you will need a 300zx rear disks for this so why not just get skyline rear disks and calipers hexam scotty on driftworks will hook you up cheap my calipers cost me less then £35 delivered

and if i am honest 14s look terrible with jun arches on wide arches bady all day.

Oh and get skiddin with me on forza son its theoly time/way i can do it lol
Posted By: Dave100e Re: Dave100e : Nissan 200sx S14a - 3rd Jan 2010 1:57am
Internals are better then hydro though. You know that yourself having problems setting them up. Ive discussed it with Chris quite a lot, and done plenty of research too. Its worth doing, far better then the stock S14 setup.

Id probably be going for overfenders but id look at arches first. They look so much better imo and add an old skool vibe. You can actually see them as opposed to overfenders, which you can normally tell. I may only need a pull anyway for proper wheel fitment so it may not be needed.

I barely ever go on Forza anymore, got bored now but ill pop on sometime over the next few days.

Did you get my stickers btw?
