Lowered the front coilovers today and turned the shocks down to minimum setting but it is still VERY hard on the public road(should be good on the track) I have discovered that the car is also fitted with an APEX quick shift-which is a nice bonus.I have also spoke to the guy that had it before the guy I bought it from and he has confimed the power output to be 365bhp at 17psi of boost...I'm off to my mates house now to pick up some adjustable rear camber arms...
Posted By: Wheels Re: Chris bmw M3 : Nissan 200sx s14 - 21st Feb 2007 8:50pm
its a tarmac munching beauty! not sure about the bonnet vent tho.
Posted By: Matty GTI Re: Chris bmw M3 : Nissan 200sx s14 - 22nd Feb 2007 12:50am
i would say remove the bonnet vent an driftworks sticker off the paint, it would look better on the window or sumfin
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Chris bmw M3 : Nissan 200sx s14 - 22nd Feb 2007 7:34am
Picked up the camber arms from my mate last night(new) and he also gave me a stainless catch tank and a spare powerflow exhaust which still has the catalyst(handy come MOT time)

The bonnet vent stays for now as it does actually feed cold air directly into the air filter..

very nice..what kind of bhp is this kicking out?
Posted By: StuyMac Re: MY NEW DRIFTER/daily plodder - 22nd Feb 2007 11:32am
Nice looking motor, and a very nice base for a drift car smile

If you look at quarter times for 300 to 320bhp s14s they are all over 13 secs(Dan Saper-319bhp did 13.5s, Hingy Lee 330bhp-did 13.2s)so that suggests mine is runnng well over that as it has pulled the following times 12.4s,12.69s and 12.89s all on standard tyres...

Mate of mine who has just built an all steel s14 engine says mine may be running high lift cams or possibly have a larger turbo...obviously I am goin to look into this as the guy I bought it from did not mod the car himself and knew nothin about it. I will post any findings..

Posted By: Sanchez Re: MY NEW DRIFTER/daily plodder - 23rd Feb 2007 12:31am
ok, but lets look at facts here, chewy has spent ££££££ at norris designs to bring the car up to 350 - 360 bhp. this car is nice dont get me wrong, but it certainly hasn t had ££££ spent on it, so there is no way its runnin that kind of bhp. very nice motoe though, love the rims.

That is true mate but the quarter mile times dont add up...and no one knows how much has been spent on the engine in mine!
I am currently tryin to get hold of a dyno graph for the car last time it was on the rollers.Stuys car is lighter than mine so we should settle this with a simple race from the lights..eh Stu??
Posted By: Sanchez Re: MY NEW DRIFTER/daily plodder - 23rd Feb 2007 8:20am
now your talking. Thats the best way to sort any speed/bhp/power discrepency out lol !

And i know a nice striaght road with no cars and not houses wink

I'll have sombody i go on my push iran aswell if you like as mine still in bits raftl

Chris is only going by what he has been told (which he says he takes with a pinch of salt) and that the car seems quick as he can comper it with his M3 evo which as we know is a quick car.
Posted By: StuyMac Re: MY NEW DRIFTER/daily plodder - 23rd Feb 2007 12:15pm
Have a look at Jez Horshams site (Ive been to him for a custom map on the old S13, and have known him for years) - the stage 2 chip is good for 290-310bhp as its a well known fact on the SXOC that the std AFM cant measure enough air for any more power (Voltage range isnt high enough).

Its also right on the limit of the std T28 .

Even his stage 3 chip with a bigger MAF, bigger turbo, and more boost is quoted at 340bhp!!

For 365bhp, youd need his 3a chip and the same turbo as me with other mods!!

The 1/4 mile times, however sceptical I may have sounded, are a lot down to the driver, so with perfect conditions, perfect start it may be possible....

Even at 300bhp, its still a decent car for the £££ smile
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: MY NEW DRIFTER/daily plodder - 23rd Feb 2007 1:56pm
Indeed. I have emailed the driver who did these times to see wot he has to say about the times; cos if its only runnin 300ish bhp he must have lightening reactions and conditions would need to be absolutely perfect..or better .lol

When he did the best time the terminal speed was 114mph-2mph faster than the 360 ferrari in the next lane??

Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: MY NEW DRIFTER/daily plodder - 23rd Feb 2007 9:19pm
I am still waiting for further engine info from the previous owner but he has said that the car could well have a Z32afm and the turbo from a GTIR??

In the mean time here is something to think about; it's a video of my car beating a 400bhp Anglia up the strip(sorry about poor quality vid... Still want that race Stuy?
http://youtube.com/watch?v=EJ_9f5mGSiU
Posted By: Sanchez Re: MY NEW DRIFTER/daily plodder - 24th Feb 2007 12:07am
it looked like the anglia won there.
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Chris bmw M3 : Nissan 200sx s14 - 24th Feb 2007 10:57am
In the pics the car clearly has a std MAF (metal grey casing - the Z32 one is black plastic)

Also, as mentioned in a thread back in Nov - by the previous owner, a .60A/R T28 is std, the GTI-R one is bigger wink

As for the 1/4 mile, the Anglia looks to be making ground once it has traction, and my old S14a (Which did a 0-60 of 5.3 at the nationals) was much faster off tha line than the 180 - I just cant get traction.

Maybe a better test of outright power would be from say a 30mph rolling start wink
Posted By: chris bmw M3 Re: Chris bmw M3 : Nissan 200sx s14 - 24th Feb 2007 3:00pm
This was sent to me today by the previous owner..its not the quoted power but still not bad(claims it was only running 15psi???-whateva

Fitted adjustable camber rear arms today, gave it an oil change using fully synethic, adjusted the front camber(drifter stylee) and while under there found it had Nismo engine mounts fitted...

Next on the list is to fit the oil catch tank(currently located on the back seat!)
