oh btw gary can if i do an engine mod im either... goin for a 2.0 gti 180 206 engine or if that wont fit lol a 106gti engine or xara vts engine both ive been told will fit tease , but until my 9 points disappear in the eyes of my insureres (another 2 years) 1200 quid is enuf at the mo for insurance lol, so i think racing seats and do the ice properly will be my project for the next 2 years lol, i plan on keepin it a while
Posted By: Towny Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 1st Jul 2005 9:24pm
206 gti engine! xsara vts engine! 306 gti-6 engine! 206 gti 180 engine! 205 mi-16 engine! take it you have 10k plus in your bank and dont wana see your car for a year then!!! seriously though saxo vts/106 gti engine will go hassle free although for conversion purposes the gti 3 plug is the easiest to fit!!! personally though for speed which by the sounds of it is what you want fitting big kits/alloys/installs is only gona do one thing! slow you down! if it were me i'd go for a subtle gti kit strip it! 15 inch speedlines! then do your conversion!!!
Posted By: SL1D3R Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 2nd Jul 2005 3:26am
thanks for the advice towny, much appreciated, but for the next few years due to convictions im ridin on style rather than flat out performance, the engine mod is a few years away yet if i dont get a new car b4 then! dads 350z if im lucky lol insurancew is my main hold back on performance mods till my 9 points are gone im pretty restricted with what i can do under the hood

Nice car mate, not sure which lights personally. The morrettes look mean but the projector one's look classy. Whichever you decide do a smooth bonnet like garys old one but with a bad-boy conversion, I think that'd really suit your car happy
Posted By: SL1D3R Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 8th Aug 2005 10:45pm
cheers for the imput jimbo m8 much appreciated i duno which ones to go for if i get the bonnet as you said, the bumper and bonnet with agressive lights might be too much, however the projector type wud add a bit of class as u say i duno what to do now!! might take it to tweeks or somewhere like that and get them to fit one of each so i can see which i like more lol tease
Posted By: Gary Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 9th Aug 2005 6:02pm
projectors mate, morettes are old now been around for ages. heres projectors on my old quiksilver

Projectors are the future! Really wanna see them released for the Scort and i think it will happen as they are comin out for all sorts includin the Fez Mk4 (the unpopular ugly fronted one)

However, the morrettes do look nice on the 106.Much better than some cars with morrettes on
Posted By: SL1D3R Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 11th Aug 2005 10:25am
gary thanks for that pic mate i think youve swung me in the direction of the projectors, they look hard as fook but still look classy i know theres a few different models around which ones did u have and where u get them from? cheers!

LATEST NEWS!! lockwood have just finished producing their dial kits for the 106 independace model! which colour to get?? choices choices
Posted By: Gary Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 11th Aug 2005 6:14pm
if youve got neons or LEDs or anything get the dials white but lighting up the same colour as the neons or LEDs.

i got my projectors from a compnay on ebay, ill try and find a name for you. i paid 220 for mine but sure you can pick em up for about 150 now. and they wont need spraying like morettes so will be even cheaper
Posted By: SL1D3R Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 12th Aug 2005 12:35am
found some on ebay for 139 and 159 doesnt say if they are manual or automatic beam adjust i need the auto ones, will have to ask! cheers for the info though much appreciated as always
Posted By: SL1D3R Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 2nd Sep 2005 10:49am
ive been toying with the idea of putting my old clusters back on instead of my clear style ones what u guys think yey or ney? also hopefully getting silver dial kit in the next few weeks prob after pay day gona be a while for the projector lights as i broke my sunglasses on holiday and foolishly bought 100 quid oakleys so no funds hehe.

Not sure to change the car altogether, been looking at a mettalic blue 406 pininfarina 2.0 coupe more i see them more i see their potential to be great modded motors, been looking at this

[Linked Image]

how much u think i should be looking at asking for , for my 106 if i decide to change, appreciate all feedback as always
Posted By: SL1D3R Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 16th Oct 2005 1:25am
think if i change need lowering some 17" OZ titans or superleggras, some sport style mirrors, flsuh the bonnet and a little spoiler and meaty backbox for starters. again any feedback or better ideas welcome ;P
Posted By: Gary Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 16th Oct 2005 4:04pm
i had titans on my old QS mate

and id say put origianl back lights on car aswel smoother rear end

jimbo?? lambo doors??? i aint made of money!! ;P maybe an idea for the future im just tired of being had off by little smug gits in their "greatest car going" 1.4/vts saxo mobiles and such like, time for somethin with grunt i think, keep the ideas coming found a silver one on ebay looks nice, not sure bout the red leather though :s take a look

SILVER 406 COUPE 3.0 v6
Posted By: jimbo4x4 Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 17th Oct 2005 5:10pm
eek Can you insure yourself on one of those? How old are you coz I thought the 2.0 might've been pushing it! Unless you've been driving lots of fairly powerful cars recently I don't think you should go for anything too fast or you'll end up killing yourself. Seriously, it's a huge step from a 1.1 fifty-something bhp to a 3.0 V6 beast.

Go for something other than silver, it makes the car blend in unless it's wildly modded like your 106 is. Red leather is a no no.

Sorry to make this post so negative lol
Posted By: SL1D3R Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 17th Oct 2005 9:15pm
the insurance is very SUPRISINGLY 1170 on the 2.0 and 1265 on the 3.0 as quoted by directline! test driving both models tomorrow so ill see how that goes then make up my mind, but i definatly prefer the blue one, found a blue 3.0 with tan leather was really nice but bit too pricey, anyway im gona keep lookin, ive been offered a saxo vts 2000 plate as a straight swap for my 106, anyone know the value of a mint condition fully serviced vts x reg????

and b4 u say 1170 is extorsionate ill just point out that to insure my 106 as is with all its mods is costing me 1300 a year
Posted By: Gary Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 17th Oct 2005 9:28pm
vts is about 3.5 to 4k matey i think
Posted By: SL1D3R Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 17th Oct 2005 9:51pm
ty very much been lookin at the insurance for a vts or 106 gti its only 940 quid.....so why in gods name am i paying an extra 400 quid for my mods on a silly small engined car??? outrageous!! might buy a gti and stick my kit and zaust on it
Posted By: Cali_16v Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 17th Oct 2005 10:00pm
i say got for the copue with the red leather looks swish, i lve it. always loved the 406 copue 3.0 v6 loads of car for the money.

May upgrade the cali for one or go turbo power some time in the future.

id say out the 2 a gti, i think the 406 is sumat like 9 seconds to 60 which is shit slow to be honest mate

BUT

if you do get a gti DO NOT put a kit on it and wreck it
Posted By: SL1D3R Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 18th Oct 2005 10:24pm
test drove a 406 2.0 SE coupe today and im pretty sure it was quicker than 9 seconds 0 to 60 it gets to 60 in second gear!!, although been thinkin ive done all this work to my little baby may just keep her for the moment ill have a re think after crimbo cos the 406 coupe is a very nice car, think once uve modded one hatch back theres not alot more to see or do, so om to a coupe EVENTUALLY probably march-april save up a bit to get a newer better condition one, the one i saw today that was priced at $4995 was battered to hell, so ill hang fire for a bit
Posted By: Gary Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 19th Oct 2005 5:42pm
sorry mate the V6 is 6.8
Posted By: SL1D3R Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 10th Dec 2005 11:17pm
made up my mind definatly gettin the 406 coupe 3.0 v6 think ive either decided on a scarlet red or diablo red, think the diablo red with like an orange pearl over the top would look brilliant! savin up now so hopefully after crimbo with my bonus, sell my car and buy a 406 coupe!!, WATCH THIS SPACE ;p,

also put my old lights back in my 106 cos the lexus clusters steamed up, think they look better tbh with the kit not as in your face as the lexus ones, sweet downgrade lol
Posted By: Cali_16v Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 12th Dec 2005 10:02am
standrd lights aint a down grade, some people pay to get their lights colour coded, peugeot do it for nothing.

good one for going for the coupe you wont regret it, underated car by far. cos its a 406 people think TAXI. they overlook the fact its a coupe so no back doors to add to weight and its got a 3.0 and also its a V6. bewarned when it comes to service it though, peugeot are slow at getting parts in and their prices are expensive, you will have to do it by the book, or it will go horribly wrong for you. but on the plus side, what a nice car.
Posted By: SL1D3R Re: SL1D3R :Pug 106 1.1 independance - 6th Jan 2006 1:59am
its ok i got a few mates that work in the citroen and pug garages in wallasey so servicing and parts aint much bother tbh, savin all my crimbo bonus and commision so hopefully be gettin it in march/april, lookin at gettin a diablo red one and gettin a bright oranage pearl over the top, and lowered on 17" chunky 5 spokes, and if anyone can call it a taxi after that ill kill em!!!! tease , thanks for the feedback cali much appreciated, ps anyone see any for sale anywhere give me a shout!!! if i see a bargain ill get it sooner hopefully, and sorry to everyone for bein so inactive recently, been workin loads, will be out more often now though see you all around or down the rock
