Lovin the calibra matey, its a big step up from ye 106. Its got some sweet speed to it ( even though you cant tell over 80 happy )

The shape looks quite smart too, with some moddin it'll look very nice. ( we all know vauxhalls are better, roll on team Vauxhall i say laugh )

You'll have to take me for a spin in it matey, great buy and cant wait to see ye start workin on it.

anyway daz106, I was really impressed with your car, you got a nice motor there. you gonna change your screen name now you dont have a 106, daz-VXR or Cally-daz or something better.

You don't need to take the steering wheel off to get the speedo out!! laugh
I'm getting a Calibra this friday, same as yours, down to the colour black.
Cali's weigh a huge amount, the doors alone weigh more than an Escort!!

If you need any help give me a shout, I've spent far too much time with these pesky vauxhalls.

Posted By: DavidB Re: Cali 16v : vauxhall calibra 2.0 16v - 24th Mar 2006 8:02pm
I got a load of bits off it, sold some of the bits and then scrapped it. There was a mantzel inlet manifold on it and a pair of strut braces.
I will still get another one sometime, I've had two so far, but each not for very long.

just a little update, my backbox fell off so get a new smiths twin chrome pipe jobbie on it now. looks nice, also going in for a new cambelt tomorrow, about time as ive had the car 14 months now without changing it. also getting the oil and filter done at the same time.

As the weather is getting better now will be looking to do a full service on whats left in the very near future.
Posted By: DavidB Re: Cali 16v : vauxhall calibra 2.0 16v - 27th Mar 2006 11:44pm
How much is the cambelt change?
Posted By: Cali_16v Re: Cali 16v : vauxhall calibra 2.0 16v - 28th Mar 2006 9:27am
Getting it done for 160.00ish. do you know vaux care wirral on the argyle ind estate. there the ones doing it. full works belt, tentioners(sp) but my car had a new engine fitted in 1995 so they dont know if its the old or new belt they need. also the engine number is missing (dodgy or what) so they have ordered the old cam kit but it might not fit. i hope it does as i cant be doing without it for another day.
Posted By: scoop Re: Cali 16v : vauxhall calibra 2.0 16v - 28th Mar 2006 11:02am
aye tis a bit dodgy that daz,is there no way of telling what engine u have other than the number?? maybe the different engines had different cam covers? or differently positioned ancils?
Posted By: Cali_16v Re: Cali 16v : vauxhall calibra 2.0 16v - 28th Mar 2006 11:22am
the only differences i knew of where the position of the wording DOHC 16V on the spark plug cover and the type of cambelt used, but of course the spark plug cover can be changed and the cam belt is covered so i was stuffed. the exchange unit booklet form vauxhalls didnt even say which engine it was. Oh well its in now and they havent rang so they must have the correct parts for it as they said they got in the later c20xe cambelt kit.
Posted By: Cali_16v Re: Cali 16v : vauxhall calibra 2.0 16v - 28th Mar 2006 11:27am

where u puttin ur reg plate now then?
Posted By: Cali_16v Re: Cali 16v : vauxhall calibra 2.0 16v - 28th Mar 2006 12:09pm
not fitting it just yet, got to get some other stuff first. once i have got a lower apron will put the reg plate low down on opp side to the exhaust.
Posted By: DavidB Re: Cali 16v : vauxhall calibra 2.0 16v - 5th Apr 2006 12:45am
That's a good price for cambelt, I was quoted 400 quid.
Strange about the engine number, has it been ground off or something?
Posted By: red20 Re: Cali 16v : vauxhall calibra 2.0 16v - 5th Apr 2006 10:03pm
there are quite a few diffrences with the cam kit i just had a new oil pump which cost me £298+vat but there was 2 types the best way to find out is wether u have a dizzy or coilpack when i orderd all my parts when i had all my major engine work done i jus told them its the engine with an coilpack on the end of the cam an they found my bits quite easy . as for the missing engine number wont that cause problems with the new mots system cos i think they have to put that in on the computer as has to have the number on the log book
