you got the engine running properly yet?

my standard one is 85A and this is 150A so its almost double as powerful smile not just shiney tease

time to start makin eerythin sparkle!
Posted By: turbo_stu Re: Tony_220: Rover coupe turbo - 20th Nov 2006 7:15pm
bigger isn't always better, a huge intercooler will introduce more lag unless you have the power to push more through?
Posted By: tony_220 Re: Tony_220: Rover coupe turbo - 20th Nov 2006 7:47pm
y will u get more lag! explain please smile
Posted By: tony_220 Re: Tony_220: Rover coupe turbo - 20th Nov 2006 7:50pm
bigger intercooler will give colder charge! colder charge is more dense therefore more oxygen there for more power! smile there may be the slightest bit more lag over the distance of the extra piping but nothing noticable! smile
Posted By: tony_220 Re: Tony_220: Rover coupe turbo - 20th Nov 2006 8:15pm
this is the same size on a coupe turbo smile

Nice Tony what extra break will it bring do you think.

And when can we race again raftl
Posted By: scoop Re: Tony_220: Rover coupe turbo - 20th Nov 2006 8:40pm
thats fecking hooge and sexy.steves right about more lag but depending on what u do with the rest of the engine u can make it negligable. a massive cooler on a stock low power turbo car wud give noticable lag but on a tweaked 200+BHP car im sure it'll be fine.and the power increase on boost will more than make up for any lag u see.Blingy alternator too. Whats the purpose of the 150A alternator? are u having a big install? or does it help the car in another way?
Posted By: tony_220 Re: Tony_220: Rover coupe turbo - 20th Nov 2006 8:44pm
its just extra pwer to run extra stuff! and my car is 200bhp standard! we are lookin for about 350bhp to the front wheels with in the next few months! smile
Posted By: scoop Re: Tony_220: Rover coupe turbo - 20th Nov 2006 9:34pm
why so much power thru the front wheels? full throttle in anything under 4th gear will prob just be wheelspin wheelspin and more wheelspin, meaning u'll only be able to use half the power available to ya in the gears that really matter? each to there own i'd just like to hear ur explanation of why u want so much power?

I guess there big but what else?
Posted By: Johnny Alan Re: Tony_220: Rover coupe turbo - 22nd Nov 2006 9:21pm
4 pot callpers to replace te standard 1pot, serious stoping power.
Posted By: Mark Re: Tony_220: Rover coupe turbo - 22nd Nov 2006 9:25pm
Dont understand no i can only see the one
caliper in the picture.

What's 4 pot all about help
Posted By: Johnny Alan Re: Tony_220: Rover coupe turbo - 22nd Nov 2006 10:01pm
you have one piston in one calliper a four pot has four pistons per caliper meaning the force will be applied more equally over the area of the pad rather than concentrated on a particular area

Ahhhh ha learn

Going to slide that into a conversation tomorrow smile

Cheers makes sense now happy

they looks awesome, but theyre on the wrong way, i doubt it'll make much difference tho
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Tony_220: Rover coupe turbo - 7th Jan 2007 11:51am
You can fit the brakes with the grooves either way.

Mine are fitted the same (Front is to the right)

[Linked Image]

Groves pointing inwards provides the best braking, though it generates more noise than outward pointing groves, and eats pads faster.

Groves outwards generates less braking effort, though there is less noise and pads last better.

All all honesty though, Im considering turning mine round. The balance of size of brakes and weight of car means turning mine round probably wont compramise the brake effort and Ill have less noise and longer lasting pads, on a heavier car though Id prolly leave them this way...
Posted By: MrPhil Re: Tony_220: Rover coupe turbo - 7th Jan 2007 12:23pm
stuey can you get pics up of the width part of the disc. to show the web on the inside of the disc.
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Tony_220: Rover coupe turbo - 7th Jan 2007 12:36pm
Lol, I see what your getting at, but it doesnt matter if the veins draw air from the inner side of the disk, or the outside.

For info though, the veins on mine angle the opposite way to the grooves (Mine are AP Rotors)

Also, every race car Ive ever seen, Inc my mates Starion, all run their rotors in the same direction as Tony and myself.

i love this car. dont really like rovers but i like the coupes, especially this one.
Posted By: scoop Re: Tony_220: Rover coupe turbo - 7th Jan 2007 2:59pm
woah how odd is that, they look wrong but theyre right. Next theyre will be tyres designed to draw water to the centre of the tyre lol

:s what are u going on about tyres that draw water in! i think its a bit obvious that this way would give more friction between the pads and disc instead of flowing with them (flowing with them obviously making less friction) the garage didnt tell me to do them this way i told the garage do because its the way hispec say to smile

lol bend over scoop an take ur punishment lol u have bin told yet again lol

Posted By: scoop Re: Tony_220: Rover coupe turbo - 9th Jan 2007 1:35pm
smack

Assumed it was the wrong way cos ive never seen it that way before and thought it would just ruin ur pads in 10 miles. But if its only slightly more abrasive then wahay.

Does this apply to all discs with grooves tho? what about those EBC ones with a million grooves?
Posted By: MrPhil Re: Tony_220: Rover coupe turbo - 9th Jan 2007 6:34pm
all depends on the inside of the disc. through the travel direction of the wheels the inside of the disc should 'throw" the heat out of the disc.
Posted By: Johnny Alan Re: Tony_220: Rover coupe turbo - 17th Jan 2007 9:47pm
ur car is just sexual tony!!!! i think i love it more than i love kate!

Posted By: MattLFC Re: Tony_220: Rover coupe turbo - 4th Feb 2007 9:27pm
I preferred the wheels silver meself, but they still look mint n so long as your happy with em thats all that matters!

Cars comin along nicely.

smile

a smart 200,all ur cars have been, not chavved up like others ive seen. Why are the front wheels protruding tho? that cant be legal, and it looks like a corsa owner fitted the wheels for u (90% of them can never get wheels of the correct offset)

Posted By: StuyMac Re: Tony_220: Rover coupe turbo - 5th Feb 2007 1:44pm
Not 3 bad matey, are they black or very dark anthrecite / grey?

AFAIK wheels that pertrude the arches are an MOT failure though frown

STD wheels for MOT time? or shave a bit of the alloy bells? Though, TBH they shouldnt effect the offset like that - they should be the same as OEM to maintain the true offset think
