I was talking to Dazza earlier on about Cosworth Engines and we were both wondering what YB stands for. Can anyone help? I looked on the internet trying to find out but I can't frown

Also, another question, which Cossie do you prefer? Sierra or Escort? smile

YB, in what context?

Escort all the way, but mind you, some of the old sierras are darn sexy.
Posted By: Dazza Re: Cosworth Engine - 15th Dec 2004 2:59pm
Like I said before Vicks i dont think it stands for anything, all i know is that the YB engine is based on the old pinto engine.

Also its gotta be Escort Cosworth all the way!

Intresting Fact: The Escort Cos is atucally based on the Sierra Cossie rather than a standard Escort - i.e Esc Cos parts wont fit my car!
Posted By: AX_125 Re: Cosworth Engine - 15th Dec 2004 3:03pm
All i can find about the YB series is that it ran from 1984 -1989 200 BHP - 400+BHP
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Cosworth Engine - 15th Dec 2004 3:10pm

Much nicer than the newer shape in my opinion.

I dunno, think i might have to change my mind back to the very old school sierra
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Cosworth Engine - 15th Dec 2004 3:25pm

Posted By: Anonymous Re: Cosworth Engine - 15th Dec 2004 4:04pm
The sierra daz posted is fit. Theya re the best shape!
Posted By: Dazza Re: Cosworth Engine - 15th Dec 2004 4:07pm
I dont like tha Flip Sierra - Ford's dont take kindly to Jap stylin or things like that in my mind, save that paint colour for a Paxo.

Out of the 2 shapes of Sierra - I like both, seen sum mint old skool sierra's but would prolly say the Mk2 Sierra was the nicer model, only cos I have more experiance with em.
Posted By: Cali_16v Re: Cosworth Engine - 15th Dec 2004 4:11pm

Posted By: Steve285 Re: Cosworth Engine - 15th Dec 2004 5:46pm
The one to have is the RS500 sierra cosworth(racing version of normal hatch sierra cossie)
The sapphire cosworth is awful so if not the RS500 sierra then the escort cossie
Posted By: DavidB Re: Cosworth Engine - 15th Dec 2004 5:57pm
Escort Cosworth everytime, they had one for sale in Hoylake Motors, absolutely spotless, for 12 grand!!! eek . They're only going to raise in price.

I know which grey sierra you are talking about, I was going along the Chester High Road, and had him right on my a*se for about 2 miles (before pulling into Gordale to buy some flowers laugh ).

Posted By: scoop Re: Cosworth Engine - 16th Dec 2004 5:55pm
How long can a topic about escorts or fords in general go without me stickin me tupence in it.Absolutely love the escy but the sierra is nice too. I love all fast fords.Am not sure what the YB stands for but all engines have names and most mean nothing. What does RB in the RB26 mean?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Cosworth Engine - 16th Dec 2004 6:38pm
What is an RB26! lol sorry
They probs pulled a lette Y and B out a hat one day they made it!

Escort cossies are fit smile
Posted By: scoop Re: Cosworth Engine - 16th Dec 2004 7:33pm
the '26 is the skyline engine vicks.saw an x reg one in 'trader yesterday . an esc cossie that is,looked ace.last one ever
Posted By: Dazza Re: Cosworth Engine - 16th Dec 2004 9:42pm
They stopped makin Escort Cosworth in 96 - But what a lot of people did was kept them and registered them at a later date (Is the X reg one white? Think iv seen it)

If my Escort stays then ill do my original idea which was to turn in into a RallySl4g - This is what iv had as the big picture. A WRC spoiler is on the cards for me Sporty but I gatta get 1st things 1st i.e Xmas out the way (Kinky's prezzies!) and gets me some skirts!

P.S Not saying I am but PM me if interested in making an offer on the S'cort
Posted By: DavidB Re: Cosworth Engine - 16th Dec 2004 10:20pm
My mate had the front wings and a few other bits off a Cossie, he might still have them. If you've seen a silver Escort mk 5 driving round the Tranmere area, he's the one with them (not on his car though).

Funnily enough I have since am a local - Didnt he crash that? Asuming its the same guy - Had a CO2 kit with purgevalve on it?
Posted By: scoop Re: Cosworth Engine - 16th Dec 2004 11:48pm
Yes dazza it is white.I know it must be a late registered one as they stoped maiking them, they shudda carried on and never stopped but hey, lifes a b***h.And i really want one of tose co2 purges think

I saw him about two months ago and car was still intact, but it could've been. He sticks anything on his car, is his name Mark Cooper?
Posted By: rossi-foci Re: Cosworth Engine - 17th Dec 2004 10:28am
LOL.....CO2 purge valves.........Noope. IF its the same one that goes the birkenhead cruise....he has got a fire extinguisher down the side of his seat which is linked to the valves on the bonnet, and when he revs it he grabs the fire extinguisher and poooooof! NOS purge effect!

The WRC scort is well nice dazza you should defo aim towards gettin your like that!

Posted By: rossi-foci Re: Cosworth Engine - 17th Dec 2004 12:03pm
yeah could be....is the bodykit/paint a bit messy? I thought it was a class idea with the fire extinguisher though....if it is true. i wudnt make the mistake of tellin ppl! lol !
