Mini Cooper. Rear tyre by exhaust is quite warm (other side cold)

Front tyre drivers side very warm ---passenger side cold.

Bit of a whirring sound driving likely to be a bearing or brake binding?

Wondering if the rear one is just getting warm because its close to exhaust

Have you checked the tyre pressures, tyres get quite a bit hotter when they are under-inflated.

Jack the car up and see if the wheels spin freely and there is no bearing noise.

the car shouldn't be designed that the tyres warm up if they're close to the exhaust, if so then that's shocking from BMW.

the whirring sound could be a number of things, as you say bearing or brake binding, it could also signify severely misaligned wheels among other things.

stupid question, the ones that are warm are they in the sun? that could explain their warmth...

obvious suggestion would be to take it to a mechanic who known/specialises in BMW's/Mini's and get their take on things.

cheers fellows. Only warm after use. They are those run flat tyres which have a warning light if they get under inflated..
Tyres haven't worn unevenly so hoping its not misalignment . Just seems odd its 2 tyres on one side.

Think its a trio to garage for a diagnosis--

We had a similar sounding situation with our mini, it has run flats and we were being told that the wheel bearings had gone. We took it to Ray Street's garage, Old Gorsey Lane and his colleague took a look and said it was the tyre tread which was low and had worn unevenly. We replaced the tyres and everything has been fine since.
Hope this helps

Run flat tyre warning indicator didn't come on. Tyre pressures in the 2 offending tyres seemed to be the problem. Only 6 psi ! Not used to these rf tyres. any other tyre with just 6psi in would look obviously flat.

cheers for suggestions. 10/10 digdeeper
