Gap for Ford Focus is usually about 1.3mm, to me the gap does look excessive, the arm looks bent and the electrode looks as if it has burnt, possibly due to the excessive gap.

Thanks Dr I thought it looked a big gap but have not seen a modern car spark plug so just thought i'd check.

thats a platinum spark plug it should look like that, dont regap them as you will damage the electrode (as its platinum & delicate wink )

So I dont need to replace them then?
Posted By: chris_gilly Re: Spark plug gap - 2nd Jul 2011 9:30pm
how long have they been in? have you measured the gap?
Posted By: TheDr Re: Spark plug gap - 2nd Jul 2011 9:32pm
Gap still should be 1.3 smile

Ford did try change their rec to 1.0mm to handle the idling on the zetec engine, but most stick with the 1.3, if yours are much bigger than that you might want to have a look at some (pre-gapped) new ones.

I remember when the gap had to be set to 0.025" - Adam was a lad at the time!

maybe worth changine for the sake of it then, be prepared to pay some decent cash for a set due to them being platinums. £20-30 odd quid a set
