My car door barrel decided to pack in today ,The whole barrel is spinning in the lock, The central lockings still fine as i can still lock it from the boot.Can i take this to any garage with a new barrel and they can fit it.

You may not need a new barrel, the clip may have just sprung of the back of the existing barrel and be resting inside the door!

Take it to a garage next week then see if they can take a look.

That will be the alloy bar that connects the barrel to the mechanism, the alloy corrodes and then it just crumbles away and thats what causes the barrel to just spin, you best bet is to hunt round scrappys for a decent one without any signs of corrosion and cover it with white grease before it goes back in

I had same problem on the Ibiza. Took the whole handle/barrel to VW and just got the broken part (they had it in stock) was about 50p I think.
