I want my car sprayed black or matte black
Posted By: chris_gilly Re: Paint job - 4th Oct 2010 8:34pm
matt black can be done cheaply, i can do matt black in my garage,

TBH gloss black shows any imperfections in the body so the whole lot would have to be perfect.

Pointless asking for a price over the interwebnet.

To make it cheaper take your bumpers/trim etc off to lower the cost.

Ring these guy's they do a good job for the £££

I'll pm you the guys number tomorrow as it's in the garage at work (for the paint).
Yes it will go well over any paint, personally I use satin black all the time but have used Matt.

Key the existing paint 1st with either a scotch pad or fine wet and dry (wet it tho)

Your looking about 12 tins for a 306, then a few rols of masking tape.

don't use newspaper for masking the window's use proper brown paper can be bought cheap in poundland and they do spray cans aswell that say gloss but aren't.
why do you want it matt black?
as it's normally used for a base coat like a primer especially for new panels to protect them in storage and the black needs flatting back before applying paint.
depending on the condition of the car you can start with no caorser than 400 wet and dry then use 600 and finish off with 800 but if you want the ultimate finish then work upto 1200 grade but only need 400 if you have some chips etc on the panels if not start with 600, but you may need coarser if you have done body repair's to use for the filler.
gloss black need's to have pin perfect panels no dents or ripply panels or will be seen straight away and look awful and is one of the worst colours to have as when you wash the car will need detailing every time or will see water marks.
