how hard is it to do hydrolic tappits?

If they are adjustable it should be quite straight forward.

Pop the rocker cover off and have a look and see if there is room for adjustment and what tools are needed.

they are not adjustable frown so you'd have to fit new shims/buckets whatever you want to call them.

what oils in it? try putting a 15/40 in, if they've put a 5/40 they do tap.
worth a go

15 40 fully synthetic already in it. mabe when i got some more cash to throw at it will sort it out then, as will do cam belt an throw some decent cams in it.

Shims are a PITA frown

...you will be losing power if the clearances are too big frown

its not worth doin tho untill i getsome cams tho is it?
Posted By: chris_gilly Re: tappits? - 18th Aug 2010 9:37pm
how does it run? if your defo getting it cammed i would do it when you change the cams, as they'll wair to the shape of the standard cam

might be worth while taking the rocker cover off and measuring the gap between the shim and the lobe. when the lobe is 190degrees above the shim. just to check

Will make no difference if you do it now or later.

The cam contact point will be the same, and the clearance will be the same for std and aftermarket cams.

...you may save a little labour though - especially if the cams need to come out to reshim it.
