The company is rumoured to be looking towards the Mark 6 Golf as a basis for its new entry-level model and is targeting the BMW 1-Series.

...it does look a bit like a golf with Cayanne lights 
TBH though, I wouldnt be surprised if Porsche used the VW chassis and body from the Golf and modified it a bit, fitted their own engine, and sold it...
...a lot of other manufactures are doing the same and sharing costs....

Indeed, A3, Leon, Golf...all the same car in reality. Same floorpan as well I think...
