Are they unreliabe?

Running 600bhp can make them unreliable i guess LOL

It goes for any old car, if it's been treated right it should be fine.

I think it has been treated right, lady owner, she knows fair bit about cars too.

the 2.6 is slower mate, you need the 2.0 litre.

In Std trim they are pretty lame for a 2.0 Turbo frown

They use a heavy exhaust wheel on the turbo which makes the boost come in very progressivly, unlike the kick you get in a Cosworth or the likes.

Best mod for them is a Cosworth T3, though you need to watch the boost level and that it doesnt run to lean.

When my mate was running the 8V head, it was pushing 400bhp on Motec. He had it running 350bhp before that, but he had changed all the Mitsubishi loom and ECU for a more tunable Cosworth setup and the limitations on the std ECU where to restrictive.

As toto said, the 2.0 is the one to have. The 2.6 was junk, a lame attempt by Mitsubishi to gain more power from CC's after the engine had been detuned for the US market, unfortunatly this ment the engine was heavier, and lazier.

Will this bolt straight on? confused

Here clicky

What kind of gain will it give me and will i need anything else?

Hey, thanks for your help/info thumbsup

IIRC the turbo will bolt directly to the manifold, but it will need a custon down pipe and custom oil pipes.

Shoud see 25-30bhp maybe if you keep the boost at a sensible 12psi, but the way the Cosworth T3 comes on boost, it will feel a far more entertaining drive smile
