Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution - 7th Jan 2008 11:08pm
Mitsubishi has released the first official photos of its new Lancer Evolution - the X gets dropped from the name outside of Japan - and while the changes are subtle, there are several differences.

Up front, the grille has been slightly re-worked, with revised openings in the front bumper fascia, as have the headlight and foglamp assemblies, which are now non-LED. Other noticeable modifications from the prototype include new side-view mirrors and an updated rear wing.
Power for the Evo will come via Mitsubishi's new, cast aluminum block 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with MIVEC variable valve timing (using cam phasing on intake and exhaust) which will reportedly come with 300 horsepower on tap and help move the car from 0-60 in the mid-four second range. Shifting will come through Mitsu's also new dual-clutch six-speed automated manual with magnesium paddle shifters -- similar in operation to VW/Audi's much lauded DSG gearbox. A five-speed manual will also be available.
