Looks like they are in trouble again

North Wales Police attended the last meet (Sun 28th)

Here's the evening leader article:

To be honest, its about time the police sorted out them meets, the utter stupidity and disregard for the safety of other road users of some of the muppets that go down there is beyond belief.

Its one thing having a meet, thats all well and good, but to be honest its just used as a place for illegal racing by the majority of people who go there.

Feel sorry for people who have drive past when they are all leaving too, most of em drive like complete maniacs and have no care for the safety of other road users, who arnt involved in the meets.

Insp Wareing said: "About 20 motorists were reported or were issued tickets for offences including street racing, careless driving, having no insurance, illegal tyres, illegal lighting, and illegally tinted windows.

"Some of them were just given warnings because we had so many backed up, and I had to choose the worst ones. I would say that 40 per cent of the ones we stopped had discrepancies.

"It was a successful evening. I spoke with the drivers personally and said we don't want to spoil their fun – if someone wants to look at someone else's car sensibly I don't have a problem with that.

"But I do have a problem with dangerous driving and I'm worried someone's going to get seriously hurt. That's why we've invested so much time and money to tackle it."

Lmao they had to let some off because there were so many cars with illegalities!!

They made the front page of the local pager must be at least
a year and a half ago now, for the same reasons.

To the best of my knowledge nothing happened,
or the events that have been posted are a knock on effect to
the week they made the front page for racing.

Road rage Jun 15 2005 Click Me

And more from the papers.
Click Me

IMO It just depends if there is any follow up, if they can get in the papers for the wrong reasons and still continue then the the authorities have to look a bit closer at them selves for allowing it to go on for so long.

I'm amazed no one has been hurt "Officially" but i did hear rumours of a couple of incidents where cars had gone off the road.

Personally i doubt it will be the end.
It didn't stop them last time is what i bias that comment on.

If your gonna race.....do it on a track...get a licence..learn to handle a car properly....

i have no sympathy for neone who races on th road and crashes....if you do that, you should be banned from driving for life

Can remember seeing a race during broad dayight whilst down in london...chav in a mk3 escort RS..racin an impreza wagon...impreza slammed on its brakes, escort swerved then went traight into some tree and came to a halt in front of us..

we stopped to warn people behind us....but then left, as it served them right

i go every week, and its done on an industrial estate way out of the way where no one goes at night, so if something was to go wrong then only people that are watching would get hurt which would be there own fault and they only stand at the start line so nothing would happen, only to the person driving

The copper involved is quoted to say

"I spoke with the drivers personally and said we don't want to spoil their fun – if someone wants to look at someone else's car sensibly I don't have a problem with that.

"But I do have a problem with dangerous driving and I'm worried someone's going to get seriously hurt. !

If you also read through the article, it says nothing about anyone being done for speeding, just vehicle defects which insurance companys would use to back out of a claim in the event of an accident - not to mention that 99.9% of insurance certificates say you are not covered for racing!!!

So…..

Should an accident occur, well then the driver, that’s his / her choice, but should they hit anyone, who pays the bill if the insurance company come up with something which will get them out of a payout…. Yup, the tax payer.

I do sort of sympathise with what goes on down there - its quite, and out of the way, but the law is the law frown Could you also set up a durgs cartell down there as its quiet and out of the way….

Granted, motorsport is expensive and is probably the reason this happens as most cant afford track time etc

At the end of the day though, the law is the law, no matter where its being done, and there are people around, there is always the chance something could go wrong and the police decide something must be done.

Id love a 50" TV, but cant afford one - I could go out and steal one, but I don’t as I know its wrong. If you cant afford to race, Im afraid to say don’t do that either - if you do, be prepared to face the consequences…. frown
