fookoff waddi, your not an old man!
Get a T4 or T5 if your gonna go down that road!
Im gonna be blunt mate, and offer my thoughts, and those of just about everyone I know, the PT Cruiser is quite probably the ugliest car EVER!!
Sorry lol
it looks like a a taxi oh dont like this car
To be honest mate, you have a family, so you want a family machine i`m guessing?
Personaly, i`m keeping my XR but will be getting a Pajero, thats my choice, but this is ridiculous!
It aint you mate, seriously
Description: Pajero
Lets hope your idea floats off??
They look bearable in Black.

keep the astra mate lol
Why not go for something different? A bit of Muscle maybe!
Exactly! I thought I'd have to do some convincing then. THey're cheep as chips to buy. 4L plus monsters that can be tax free
whoa....matty........th pt cruiser is bearable......the ugliest car ever has to be he multipla.....DONT BUY EITHER THO......something better will come along
To be honest, if you slam it on its arse, put some big rims on it and fit an aftermarket S/S zaust system, it could look quite nice.
it would still be a pt cruiser
I think you could get it looking sweet. As I said above but with twin zausts like the 182. Maybe suicide doors
that's wot u call wasting ur money hehe
this is wot u want
That alien is fookin awesome! Imagine see that coming towards you on the way home from work!

Lmao Davey!
IMO the PT Cruiser is one of the most anal cars on the road - DONT DO IT!!!
going back to the mustang..cracking cars..but do they make them in right hand drive?
Not sure, why would you want a RHD one anyway?
passat is a good idea!
Or
5dr golf
Bora
Audi a4/a6
All available with tdi's too! I miss the power of my fabia. I have never bin through so many tyre's ....

You can pick em up for 10k Cheeper than a scooby and better looking
going back to the mustang..cracking cars..but do they make them in right hand drive?
Not sure, why would you want a RHD one anyway?
because unless im quite mistaken last timee i checked we drive on the left(proper!) side of the road in the uk...and therefore need a RHD vehicle...??
But you can still drive LHD vehicles regardless of what side we drive on.
not sure if it been said lol but dont do the pt cruiser mate we all beg you
to be fair...i have seen a pretty nice PT cruiser drivin round when i was back home...it was all black...lowered...i think it was a special edition one or something...also....thinking back to a few years ago....a race team was gonna enter a brace of PT cruisers into the BTCC....and i remember thinking how much of an interesting idea that would be..mainly for the styling.....
basically...what im updating my response to now is this....Dont follow the flow like everyone else....dont become a sheep or anything...keep away from the golf etc.....take one for a test drive if ya can....see if ya like it.....it would make a very interesting project....
In addition....I dont exactly drive the ebst looking car ever.....but no-one gives me stick about it....go for it man.....
everone goin bit off topic now.
Well u have my opinion someplace inside this topic amongst the crap.
Pt is up to u and the missiz at the end of the day. I actually have seen one in black that looked the mutts nuts, but i cant tel you anything about how the car is to drive and live with day to day.
It is a hard decision to make. If i was in your shoes i would buy something in the vw range and trick it out with luxery rather than anything with 16v's, turbo's, loud, exhausts, american. Maybe im being a bit biast but i know what i like and whats reliable.
sorry for the
. Agreed LTI, but I'm in to LHDs. Besides most overtaking is done on the motorway any way (well it is with me)
I think we'll have to just disagree on this one matey lol. After all you're a traffic copper, as you said you've been taught to drive safely etc. Not that I don't, but you use your car for your job. I'm sure you'll get used to a LHD if you use it enough.
Cool.
Back on topic though. Buy a Mustang
if you want reliability and style, get a beemer
:not an unreliable four cylinder though:
Modern Civics are quite stylish too (not the brand new ones), and you wont get a more reliable car.
Especially not with any of the shit the Euopean and US marques throw out.
basically the thinking behind it was:
I could do with a bigger car that will fit the 2 static baby seats and 1 adult comfortably in the rear and have space in the boot for a double pram and shopping/suitcases etc
I also wanted something a bit different that looked a bit grown up. Im a respecatble house owner now, gotta make a good impression with the neighbours. lol.
IMHO the PT cruiser is a love it or hate it car, i took me a while to like them but I think they have a unique style that looks prestige.
You want grown up, buy a Rover 75 lol. Much much better styling then the PT Cruiser, the 04/05 facelifted models look the business hehe.
Cheap as chips nowadays thanks to the demise of Rover, you get a LOT for your money with them.
For a really bigger car, how about a Zafira, that would suit your needs perfectly, and keep you in with the Vaux badge. Or maybe a Scenic, quite clever and functional cars, very practical use of space and good for kids, rather grown up to boot.
I find both the Zafira and the scenic boring to look at, and oh so common.
Get a van an put a couch at the back
all smiles around (joke)

passion wagon
wot about alfa's? pick one of them up with reasonable mileage and fairly new for quite a decent price... just not sure wot they are like for getting parts for or reliability... the car is a decent size, not sure wot interior space is like tho... certainly looks respuctable in my eyes and has lots of character
Example:
here's a cple from autotrader:

probly the most sensible comments i've made in this thread lol
Alfa's are beasts, get the 156 MkII or go luxury and have the 166.
You can get the 156 in a sportswagon iirc.
The Alfa, Passat, Rover offer no advantages over my current astra.
I was looking for a "high roof" car:
These are the options:
Meriva - £3950 Scenic - £2795 PT Cruiser - £2695CITROEN XSARA PICASSO - £2500
well see if u told us all these requirements in ur original post it would have been much easier to find something to suit ur needs
lol
from ur options u have found i would say the meriva
I hate blue ovals, lol
and imho the meriva is out of the question aswell as the boot isnt up to much.
Fao LTI, have you seen any of the above mentioned cars in a RTA, how would you rate their safety?
Theres just something about the PT that Im drawn to.
Ye you should go for the PT. As long as it does the job
All is well
Citroen
Wow, cheapest and nicest
The citroen is my 2nd choice and proberbly most practical as the PT is group12 insurance.
any other suggestions of good looking larger cars that will:
- Carry 2 baby seats and 1 adult comfortably in the rear
- fit a side be side rear pram in the boot
- aswell as still have space for shopping etc
- still have a vast array of modification options
- provide a safe metod of transport for my family
I have just done a search "picasso" in exterior styling on ebay and it has brought back 39 results of which 38 are complete rubbish. no aftermarket grille, no lights, no bumpers or skirts the only have decent thing was a spoiler.
Citroen
Wow, cheapest and nicest
I agree
I wouldn't see that as a bad thing Waddi, just means it'd be more unique if modified
but where would I get the parts from at an affordable price.
The scenic is now the old shape scenic...
the picasso is now the old shape picasso...
The PT cruiser has been facelifted with new lights etc, but imho still looks the most up to date. ot of the above mentioned.
If anyone has any other cars I should consider, fire away.
Sorry, crossed wires, When i said the above mentioned cars, I meant
old shape scenic
old shape picasso
Pt cruiser
I forgot about the focus, I like the old focus. I also like the XR range
stop arsing round and just get what you want, at the end of the day your only going to get what you really want innit !

ford these days are surprisingly very reliable... and comfortable on long journeys - and this is me speaking from travelling from perth, scotland to wirral in a fiesta - 4.5 hrs - 1 stop at carlisle... no discomfort...
focus wouldnt gie u the headroom u appear to be after but as already mentioned, the C-Max would... not sure how much boot space they have tho...
speaking of fords, bird has agree'd to get a fiesta ST as her next car - got a quote in her name before and was under £300...
fords from about 1980 to 2000 were complete shite, they have much improved over the last years tho
Thanks guys!
Sanchez, its your fault, you put me off the campervan idea, whats your opinion of the PT cruiser?
good cars mate, i know some one with a brand spanker, and i cant fault it, not sure what the older ones are like though, but im guessing it must be good as they continued it in production to a really expensive level, go test drive one bud !
Sanchez gives the
That was a surprise, lol.
if u want one of the ugliest cars then it's the pt
- if u want a car that looks respectable, delivers and provides ur other needs then go for the vauxhall or renault... u considered prices of parts etc if anything goes wrong?
Davey Davey Davey, Beauty is in the eye of the beerholder.
IMHO, as someone else has also stated, the ugliest car is the 1st fiat multipla, followed closely by the Vauxhall Agila/Suzuki Wagon R and the Ford Ka
What about this then?
just the insurance to worry about.
Description: SUBARU Impreza Turbo 2000 4WD
..and if you go for an Scoobypoo Impretzel. try and get an import, they put out 60bhp more, though beware, UK or Import, they all have a chocolate crank
tbh I couldnt afford the insurance, I saw a GSI 2.5 V6 vectra super touring estate, and it got me thinking, I would fit alot in the boot of an estate, since MPV's are usually based on the floorpan of a small family car from the same company, i.e picasso = xsara, Scenic = Megane, meriva = corsa.
