Hello and thank you for taking a look at my post.

Throughout this year myself and a few fellow music collectors will be playing Underground Funk - Disco - Soul & Balearic House Music @ The Basement in Hamilton Square Birkenhead. By underground we simply mean we will not be playing anything commercial or mainstream, we are music collectors and find passion in searching through silly amounts of records to find those unknown gems from artists who are little known but make really great music, new and old.

The nights are held Sundays and exactly 4wks apart, 6pm onwards.
We have already held 2 of our 9 events at the venue and so far so good, the atmosphere has been great and exactly what we wanted, mature people meeting up with friends, having an end of week drink and enjoying some nice music they have not heard before.
We have had to be very careful in the way we promoted our event as to not attract the wrong crowd, we wish to share our love for music and bring a nice end to people's weekends, not extend the nightlife. It's more of a lounge thing with leather sofa's to sit on and booths to sit in with friends etc but if you get that urge to dance there is more than enough room to ;-)
There is no age restriction on our little event, all we ask for is a mature and friendly attitude.

If any of this seems up your street then I've put a blog together on our website that showcases our last event on Sunday 12th April, it contains a recording of our whole night of music so it's a great way to get a feel for what we are doing, it has a couple of pics and videos too.

Entry is free, staff are friendly and the drinks prices are very reasonable.
Next event is > Sunday 10th May 2015

Hope to see a few you there, that would be great.

Any questions please feel free to ask, I have a habit of presuming everybody knows what I'm talking about and leaving out key info haha

Sounds a bit like an early days Wigan Pier revival. Hope you get a great turnout.
Might be before my time that, the only thing I ever heard of Wigan Pier growing up was all that hard rave stuff the kids were into. ;-)
A nice version of 'The Cure - Lullaby' that Dave played early on.
There was also a nice edit of 'The Beatles - Come Together' and 'Rodriguez - Sugarman' played around this time too setting a nice mood smile

We are doing our 3rd gig at the basement this Sunday if anybody fancies it and it looks like the weather might actually be on our side for a change with 19c sunshine forecast! smile
We will be playing nice summer grooves in the form of House Music - Funk - Soul & Disco from 5pm - onwards.

Feel free to join us wink

Entry is free ofcourse.
So just to give you all a little update on our Sunday gatherings @ The Basement...
We are about to head into our 6th gathering @ The Basement next Sunday (2nd Aug) and it's all come along great, it's not easy trying to tempt people out on a Sunday but when people have finally come along we have been lucky enough to see them and each gig there after so I'm guessing they get what we are trying to do there as it's not to extend your weekend but rather soundtrack your weeks end to feel good House Music & Disco with twists of funk for good measure, perfect company to share a pint or two with.

If you fancy coming along we still have a few e-tickets available here
I was hoping to sit down and do a really nice promo video for the gigs but all the material I was given was so varied in quality so I just threw this together using some of the good photos and a little footage. Done it on the iPad so I didn't have to leave the sofa haha
Hoping to do another in a few weeks using the best of the bits I have, in the meantime though, a little insight to our Sunday's @ The Basement smile
