A massive thanks to Peco again for there hospertality and a be thanks to
Dave Peco's Guru (Tech guy)who made it another great day.

Personally i think this was our best day so far,
the banter and cars were amazing.

I think we were all shocked with Bigcos and his Ford Lighting... WOW...

Watch for out for our next visit to peco :go: :go:
cant wait to see the full article and peoples reviews of the day, wonder what was up with steds car? did he take his 1.8 Scort Si, that shud be 105BHP at the fly standard

What they reckon the rolling road is showing too high a power figure or too little a power figure?
The RR is not out! evidently it is not as it measures a lot of standard cars accurately enough, Als VTI in standard trim was only 1BHP out from the stated 160BHP.
My 74BHP 1.4 scort got 70BHP (4BHP down,due to age of engine i suspect)
the RR is fine, what are the standard figures of ur corsas?
id of said for lawtons corsa (i know its nippy) but 110bhp out of a 1.4 is a lot but then again its mostly down to torque figures anyway
they where going on about my corsa not being able to get that sort of power out of the engine its got super fast road cams ported an polished head fse power boost valve might not make much diffrence but bin runing optimax for a long time an i also used some octane booster which took the octane up 8ron
just because its got this that and the other doesnt mean that it should make a certain figure. if a cowboys set it all up and not repregrammed your ECU correctly then it wont be running properly at all.

and scoop on that evidence it looks (als civic etc) id say the RR was pretty accurate but who knows whats changed there in the time since the last one
id say its accurate, but then again, the figures the corsas gave are incredible, almost supsect.

110BHP is a lot for a 1.4. But MG ZR1.4ss are 105BHP standard so it is possible.Maybe vaux engines can take the tuning well.some people say RR's overread to make the customer feel happy that the money theyve spent on their engine is well spent??i dont believe this tho, especially of peco, which read perfectly for me.

Wonder how much difference the wheels make?
Also, the calculation for transmission losses is not gospel, and its best not to use it,just say how much u got down to the rollers, some drivetrains are efficient and will get 91% of power to the road, some are crap and wont even get 85% down to the road,so using a generic calculation is a bit daft i feel.Ill be gettin my car RRd in a few months and as long as 110BHP is read at the wheels ill be happy (that should be over 130BHP @ fly,but..........generic calculation)
well red you know what you've done to the car, i assume those ppl on corsa sport dont? anyone who says you cant get this from that is stupid, just ignore the idiots who say the RR is off coz they dont believe the figures
people will always argue about RR figures and how accurate they are and no-one will ever prove/disprove a it so. best bet, take your cars to pod and see who's got the best Q/M failing that take it round a track and see whos the best driver.

as long as, with the mods youve done, you feel that the car has improved and your pleased with it then thats all that should matter
when andy had his civic that was tuned up we raced an i wasnt that far behind was still siting right next to his an he was runing silly power

well obvioulsy he's gona of told them what he's done for them to make that assumption.

yeah but acceleration is down to torque and drivers reactions, gear changes etc etc could affect a race side by side.

180 bhp at the fly id say isnt that impossible from a 2L engine. and itd be more noticable in yours than say an astra with yours being lighter
torque is acceleration, however, jap cars can stay in each gear forever and a day as they rev to 8 or 9k lol.So a torquey car can pull hard but will have to change gear more often than a 200BHP 1.8

I SUSPECT THEY ARE JEALOUS OR GUTTED.

You always get people like this i put my rrd figs on the E30 zones when i had the bm (and it was down 6bhp) and got nothing but rubbish.

Sod them all.

Looked like a good day was going to try and see if there was any space but after i had sorted the tyres and got down there (for all of 5mins) i wouldnt have had time as i needed to be at footy.

Would of liked to see how my car did because its faster then i thought.

I tried catching your car up in my mondeo and got wasted by it its Fast and if people on other sites dont belive you SOD EM.

I take it you have a 2.0 16v engine? If so then I know that 180bhp is EASILY possible with what you have. I saw an article quite a few years ago about the 16v engine, saying that they produced 157bhp straight out the factory but produce more bhp when the engine's loosend up after about 65,000 miles. Until the engine's hit 65,000 miles it's not classed as being fully run in. Providing your cams have been set up correctly with the power boost valve, then I don't see why it wouldn't make 180+bhp. Also when the manufacturer claims 157bhp this will have been achieved on normal unleaded petrol and not Super Unleaded or Optimax.
is chris o the one with a fiat bravo?
chris o is the one with the 5 cylinder Bravo..

Red20 Trust me the rolling road is spot on.
Its regulary calibrated an no one has ever questioned the results.
If they seen the technology that's attached to Peco's 1000bhp Dyno Jet Rolling Road
i doubt they would question any part of it.
Dont forget dave the technician?
He has been doing rolling roads for years and years, and before he joined peco.
He know's if somethings not right happy

He diagnosed a problem with steds car just by looking at the graph as it died before it peaked.

Between Dave and the Rollers and the computer,
there is no chance of a miss reading in my opinon.

As we said on the day,
if you sorted your tappets out it would have got higher.

I guess they just cant believe it can be done.

I will host more pics with graphs in the morning,
i'm wiped out...

But it was an excellent day and anyone that
missed it did miss it.

Ask anyone who was there. smile
Personally i would simply say they were Jeaulous mate about your 180 BHP Corsa......

Its only a 20% increase over standard figures, its not impossible by any means.

I would stand proud mate and take the reading as gospel. When people are talking about racing each other then that is a different thing all together. The weight of your car comes into effect. Example : My MK1 Escort Cozzy only weighed 800kgs but was pushing 280 BHP but say a Lexus GS430 Sport weighs 2500kgs but has 400 BHP then who will win a race ?? The lexus has allot more BHP but it weighs 3 times what the escort does so the escort would waste it big time although the escort has 120 BHP less than the Lexus.

Power to weight Ratio's :

Escort : 350 BHP Per Ton

Lexus : 160 BHP Per ton

This shows the escort would be nearly twice as fast as the lexus but dosnt have as much power....

All in all it was a top top day with Bigcoz Ford Lightening stealing the show happy

(More pics to follow & Video)

The huuuuuge engined cars peak at the beginning due to them being Automatics, it the way Dave has to set up the run. He has to avoid the engine stepping down so i think the results show them running / rolling before the he recorded the result.

Steds car showed a power loss for some reason,
this could only be diagnosed by inputing
a diagnostic machine.

Hope that helps.
Well chuff with mine! the 2.2 only puts 144bhp standard and ave only got a courtenay sport panel filter! just wait till i go to courtenay sport for my cams, new head, sports cat, and remap with rollin road tune! can't wait!!
hi i have made plans to get the car d tested to find out wat the problem is but hey at least i know its there now instead of not knowin (thanks to the rollin road) it made it come to lite the problem
Any chance a 4 wheel drive r/road can be used next time ???

I wont be hosting the Video's as it takes allot of Bandwidth (Money) smack

However if you send me an e-mail to Scooby@cruisewirral.com clearly stating your username, What Car, colour & Registration Number then i will e-mail you the video of your car on the rolling road.
so we not going for a 4 wheel drive one then no?
Too expensive and there isnt any local smack
There is one in St Helens and one in Warrington. Approx 30 mins drive from Birkenhead.
Are they too far away for people?
Well considering MOST members only drive 2wd vehicles i dont see the point unless the members with 4wd vehicles wanted to arrange this ?

I will leave the ball in the 4wd members court to arrange if they wish to do so.

I know its a pain as when i had the scooby i couldnt join in the Peco rolling road Shootout's but hey, thats life i guess.......
True i suppose.

Am i elligibe to be entered into the league tables then if the car gets done at a non cw rolling road day ?
Erm, Bloody good question mate happy
OKay John, Im short YES your results can be included in the League Tables.

This is a ONE OFF Exeption as you are a valued member and it would be unfair to exclude you just coz you have an All Wheel Drive vehicle.
Good lad, you know it makes sense laugh
