Daisy Chain 2013 - 22nd Mar 2013 4:43pm
Hello all
Daisy Chain 2013 is 14 stage charity walk scheduled for this coming August, in memory of 15 year old Daisy Jean Metcalfe, who died tragically of meningitis in January this year.
All proceeds go directly to Meningitis UK, who are at the forefront of providing charitable assistance to those actively involved in treating and researching this silent killer.
We are walking from Wirral to Aberdeen (Daisy's place of birth) in 14 stages, spread out over a fortnight period. Anybody and everybody is most welcome to participate. Nobody is expected nor obliged to complete all 14 stages, or even 1 for that matter. Willing participants can walk as much or as little as they feel able to. All contributions to this event are gladly welcomed.
The event has been promoted on Facebook for the last 7 days, and the response has been overwhelming. The walk itself is promising to be far more successful than initially forecasted. This is great news for Daisy's family, as organising this event and throwing their enegries into charitable work affords them a platform to begin to come to terms with the devastating loss of a wonderful, beautiful and outstanding young daughter.
We are also hosting some small pre-walk fundraising events in the coming months to publicly promote the walk itself. We have already secured some very attractive prizes which will be up for grabs in a fundraising raffle for Meningitis UK. I will post another thread for these events as they approach.
If you have any enquiries regarding the walk, sponsorship and the individual stages involved please feel free to inbox me here.
Thank you for your interest
