THE full line-up for the Mersey River Festival was revealed last night, including a free outdoor concert by soul singer Beverley Knight, an RAF fly-past and Tall Ships.

Visits by two majestic liners will start and conclude the celebrations.

On September 8, the new Queen Elizabeth cruise liner will make her inaugural visit, while her departure later the same day will be marked by a spectacular firework display.

A week later on September 15, the largest transatlantic ocean liner in the world, Queen Mary 2, will sail into Liverpool’s cruise liner terminal for the day.

Another highlight will be a free concert by Mobo award-winner Beverley Knight at the Pier Head on September 10, starting at 7.30pm.

From September 8 to 10, a total of 11 Tall Ships, including The Phoenix, which was featured in an episode of Dr Who, will give visitors the opportunity to
experience life on board.

The waterfront will also come alive with aerobatic displays, street theatre, a bistro village and rustic farmers’ market, while swing and jazz sounds from the 1930s will feature on the Big Band stage.
