Saturday 2nd July at 7.30pm at St. Bride's Church, Canning Street, Liverpool,Tayo Aluko, Baritone, will be hosting a Concert for Andrew,in memory of,the architect, musician, cyclist and sculptor Andrew Brooks, who passed away on July 5th 1999.
As well as singing a few songs (accompanied by Liverpool Parish Church Organist Derek Salder), there will be a number of other acts, including Liverpool Voice Choir, Actor Brian Dodd, Performance Poet Curtis Watt, Liverpool Socialist Choir, and one or two other special guests to be revealed.
Proceeds from the concert will be going to the I Choir (linked to Imagine Mental Health Services, Liverpool), and the majority to the Haiti Relief Fund. To this end, the renowned activist and writer Selma James will also give a short address on Haiti.
Andrew's family will be in attendance, and have already contributed generously to the fund, so your support would be most welcome.
Tickets for the concert (£5) are available from News From Nowhere, 96 Bold Street, Tel: 0151 708 7270.
Prior to that, on Saturday afternoon at 2pm at News From Nowhere, Ms. James will be launching a new book to which she has contributed the Introduction: Jailhouse Lawyers by Mumia Abu Jamahl. This is the latest in an impressively brilliant oeuvre he has produced from death row in Pennsylvannia, where he has been for about thirty years! The book is being launched at the House of Lords on the 30th of June, but for those of you who cannot grace their Lords and Ladyships with your company there, join us at News From Nowhere.

I think the Methodist Church by the fire station did one on Saturday
It's good to see that local people are still raising funds for those still in need in Haiti. Thanks for your comment
