I dont have one but just for clarification for others would it be 32bit or 64bit version?

Good thinking, thanks for that. It is a 32bit but since my post I have been advised that if the license has been applied to another computer I will not be able to use that DVD.

Providing you have the Windows product key (usually on the back of the computer) and there isn't another computer running Windows with that same product key, then it should be possible to install.

Are you upgrading from XP?

Thanks larri but my product key refers to my Vista machine which I was going to upgrade to Windows 7.

Thanks for your reply but I have decided to splash out on a new laptop. I was advised that my current machine was not worth the effort and cost of an upgrade.
