Will be working from home soon (hopefully) as a contractor and need to update my PC (it's 5 years old) - needs to be able to cope with 3ds Max, ZBrush, etc.

If its 5 yrs old then buy new.
you only need the tower.

You will also find that most laptops will also do everything you need to do also.

Try and get a windows 7 machine unless your ok with windows 8 as the changes would do your head in on top of everything thing else.
