It's just something that increases humidity wherever it is put. Does a similar thing to putting a pan of water on a stove or wet towels over a radiator but on a larger scale. I suppose a bit like a vaporiser or a face steamer!

Your body needs a certain level of moisture in the air to function properly. Babies and small children are especially susceptible to breathing problems and infections because of dry air.

Complete opposite to a dehumidifier which reduces the moisture in the air to prevent mold or condensation.

Check the level of humidity in your house and decide which one you need. Optimum levels are between about 30 and 50% relative humidity.
