there are cameras in both tunnels...don't think they track speed tho...but they are cctv so if rozzers watchin they can see your actions. changing lanes (if caught!) can land u in serious bother m8 (unless in emergency) solid white lines shouldn't be straddled and they could prob do u 4 a couple of things...careless driving, without due care & attention, dangerous driving, wreckless driving and prob a few others! u been a naughty boy gaz?? lol.

YOU GET 6 POINTS IF YOU ARE CAUGHT CHANGING LANES IN THE TUNNEL IT'S CLASSED AS DRIVING WITH OUT DUE CARE AND ATTENTION, MY BROTHER IS TO THANKS FOR THIS INFORMATION HE WAS CAUGHT AT 02.30 IN THE MORNING CHANGING LANES LAST YEAR COS OF A ROAD SWEEPER AND WAS PULLED WHEN HE GOT OUT. NOT WORTH TAKIN THE RISK

thing is m8...tunnel police have limited jurisdiction...once u out on public highway they can't touch ya...they can only prosecute you on their patch...looks like u got away with it m8!

looks like u got away with it tease

av heard that there's camera's in the middle of the main tunnel that record speed but they only turn them on when its quiet as its to hard or them to stop people speeding when its busy cos virtually everyone does it, not sure if its true, just overheard someone talking about it.

There's no speed cameras in the tunnel, they're all uncalibrated CCTV style ones.
Posted By: pugginell Re: Tunnel Cameras - 19th May 2004 12:07am
that's rite ando...they can only guesstimate your speed in conjunction with other cars. they were first put in to check for breakdowns or hold-ups, then they started bein used to check people changin lanes...then speeding...so if u get stopped by tunnel police for speeding, ask them to see the signed calibration checks for their cameras...bet ya they can't supply them...no calibrations...no speeding tickets!!
Posted By: Go Go Gadget Re: Tunnel Cameras - 19th May 2004 12:16am
that calibration is the same wiv normal police all cameras should be calibrated on shift changes for the new officers so if they havent then they can not be used in court, i was told this by a traffic cop.

is rite m8...can't remember the regulations exactly but it goes summit like this = gatso's must be calibrated every 6 months (i think!), traffic vehicles every month and radars & lasers every 2 weeks. as i say not 2 sure, got it all written down somewhere...but as u say no authorised checks = no speeding tickets!
Posted By: Ando Re: Tunnel Cameras - 20th May 2004 1:08am
Yeah they're mainly used for breakdowns, like when my wheel fell off in the tunnel wink
