Have put it in another post but thought i'd lob it here too just so you all know, even if only your bumper is hanging over the end oh a double yellow you are classed as being parked on it and can get a ticket <img border="0" alt="[cwhelp]" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions041.gif" />

thats ****!!!! its just another way for the tax happy goverment to rip us law abiding motorists off!!!! i dont agree with it at all and i would argue my case to the fullest if i came back to my car and found a traffic warden giving me a ticket for my bumper being 'slightly' over the lines!!! however ther must be some limits to how far over you can park though.

To the best of my knowledge which i would love to be corrected on if i am wrong is this.

Its your tyres that need to be touching the yellow lines !

Hence you can park with out getting a ticket on
those old worn missing lines.
You know where there are gaps everywhere ?
This information is a few years old now but
If any one can find out where the law stands on
this properly then it would beifit us all.

Thugz Hear what your saying but was it on good authority ?

See if we can pun this one down ?

u can park if the lines are worn to a point of very little visibility also if the double yellow lines are not finished as in they do not have a line across them ending them which you see on most double yellow lines they are classed as illegal and you can protest them in court if you get ticked on them. aslong as you have evidence thumbsup

There is a loophole where you can park on double yellows if they are worn, not finished, painted again over old ones so it looks like 3 lines, painted over by a school sign etc etc........ I make a point of parking on them when u know the pc cant do jack about it and if they do you rip them apart for not knowing that the lines are illegal. Read it in auto express

I used to work in birkenhead police station, and the bizzie cars parked outside there all the time on double yellows. The traffic wardens are b'stards round there, but never give the police cars tickets. However, there is one who doesn't give a f-, and tickets about 15 p.cars everytime he's up there. laugh

ther is also another case, in a different part of the country. where the lines where not finished correctly. Quote below:-

The Department for Transport, Local Government and the Regions (DTLR) confirmed that with single or double yellow lines there must be a block painted at a 90-degree angle at the end of the lines.

A spokesman said: "If this end line isn't there then the lines have been laid out incorrectly by the local authority and you would have grounds to challenge the ticket in court."

After seeing the file of photographs taken in North Yorkshire, the police are reviewing parking restrictions across the area.

Inspector John Proud said in a statement:"It has come to our attention that some of the parking systems (in particular double yellow lines) within the county have been defectively installed.

"And as a consequence of that North Yorkshire Police and traffic wardens have been advised not to enforce some of these systems for the time being.

"This does not mean however that there is a parking free-for-all and firm action will be taken against anybody who causes unnecessary obstruction.
