A mate puzzled me with this one as I dont know meself

Can you tax your car on an insurance cover note?

He's just bought the car (2nd hand) and it needs taxing, he's got a cover note from his insurance which lasts until the 22nd of September

He hasnt yet taken out the policy, he's getting it sorted either today or tomoro

Can he tax his car with this letter from the insurance company? it gives all the vehicles details and his details etc

I'd have thought it was the same as long as he let them know he is waiting to recive the full documents think

He needs the little green slip he is meant to keep when sending documents of to declare the car as his own, if i'm not mistaken

so he just needs the green slip off his v5 log and the MOT certificat??

thought you needed your insurance papers too?

I needed them when I last taxed my car

To tax the car he needs:

Insurance certificate or cover note.
Tax reminder or green recipt from V5 (This is only valid for 2 months though).
MOT.
Money.

So, yes, he should be able to tax it with a cover note smile

Sorted my tax now,and while goin thru my docs realised the MOT is up today too, it was good for the tax and the cars goin in to be MOT'd tomorrow. Hope itll pass, i know the front tires are close and if they fail and just throw shreks 17s on. I could really do with the extra 40mm width anyway, these 165 14 budget tires are fappin dangerous
