Just wanted to let other members know about something that happened to my Dad just recently... forewarned is forearmed!

He received a penalty charge notice (PCN) through the post stating he had parked on the bus stop in Seaview Road, Wallasey. He swears he wasn't parked, but moving slowly, held up by traffic ahead of him.

3 photo's show his car in the marked area, but a good 4 feet away from the kerb! Also, the photo's show the times 10:38:04, 10:38:11 and 10:38:13. A grand total of 9 seconds "parked"!

And finally, (though I haven't yet been able to learn what the all the numbers mean,) the GPS numbers are different on all 3! And on 2 of them, the first number is obscured by a block which seems to show the "pause" symbol. Clear evidence that the vehicle was in motion, albeit slow!

Needless to say, my Dad has appealed the penalty charge. I'll keep you all updated, but in the meantime, to all motorists... be careful out there! joyride

what are the penalty charges and if you pay early.
just curious, which adds to your anxiety.

They should get a fine if you win an appeal and not a good will gesture.

makes me mad this as so many older parents would just pay. good luck keep us in the loop.

£35 if paid early, £70 if not. Having appealed it, it's been "frozen" while they go back to the tapes for more footage. Good luck to 'em! If there was more, it would have been there on the PCN! Why show 9 poxy seconds if you've got, say, 5 minutes?

@EvilCycle: Thanks for the link, I hadn't heard of that site before!

I learn all kinds of interesting things here on WikiWirral... devil

Thanks Gold Moon I know a couple of people who would have paid this and not told anybody. Thanks for the warning.

You're welcome Zubee... the more people who know about the Council's douche-baggery, the better! yes

And it feels good to vent! happy

As a Wirral council tax payer I object to the activities of these pricks. Surely the incompetents who send out these worthless & pointless penalty charges should be sacked. Our wonderful council seems to have a monopoly on employing morons.
Pay peanuts-get monkeys.

Bob.

The monkeys aren't asking for peanuts though, are they? They're asking, nay, demanding, some pretty big bananas! dunno

Well, they won't be getting any of my Dad's! bananadance

It's only going to get worse I'm afraid (sorry to be the harbinger of doom). I know it's from the Daily Wail, but it looks like it will be brought in soon: At least the Police won't get the b...ts etc" spiel any more haha Clicky.

my son got pulled for apparently going through a red light by one of them police camera vans which was behind him. He told them it was on amber but they say the rear wheels where still before the line when it changed to red.
Not sure what that means but they cant provide video evidence because they were too close behind him so it would be just his word against theirs but he'd have to pay costs when judge dealt it in their favour. so they say take the fine and the points

They're all corrupt

There is a defence for going through an Amber light (which they say his front wheels did) and that is by breaking heavily you could cause a collision from the vehicle behind travelling too closely, which if they say they were too close for the camera to see, they were.
I'd wait for the summons and then point out that the actions were forced by the dangerous driving of the vehicle following too closely behind.
However, in future, stop at red lights, I might be coming the other way.

We all do it to a certain extent but amber means STOP.
From the theory test.
AMBER means 'Stop' at the stopline. You may go on only if the AMBER appears after you have crossed the stop line or are so close to it that to pull up might cause an accident;

We got a ticket last year in liscard shopping centre, we had a ticket which had fallen off the window and onto the dashboard, but still the man decided to give us a ticket, we appealed and was told we still had to pay it and we appealed and went to citizens advice who told us it was best just to pay the fine...

The appeal was rejected and we kept getting bills through the post and higher amounts each time we recieved the lettet....

We ended up going to a solicitor who was based in devon, we paid her £25 and she sorted it straight away, the letters stopped and no contact was made by the
Again...

Even though we had to part with £25 i was glad i didnt have to pay what was coming up to £300 by the time they had sorted things....

Its terrible, i hope your appeal is successfull smile

well done,on principle you did the right thing, authorities need to use common sense, especially when you can prove the ticket fell off.

If it is the Cherry Tree car park then this is run by private individuals and not the council. You can totally ignore tickets issued by any private company if you so wish and there is nothing they can do about it. Personally I don't mind paying the parking fee and it would be selfish to do otherwise but these people try it on with such things as your wheel touching the white line etc.

You see these companies operating in most supermarket car parks and they are nothing but rogues. As virtually all of these are free car parks they cannot claim they have lost anything so courts will not entertain them. Even if a paying one, if you offered to pay the current price then there is nowt much they can do about it. They will send you all kinds of threatening letters, false court papers and in some cases will phone you. (this is harassment btw and the courts don't allow it). Never talk to them or acknowledge and certainly don't appeal. No one ever wins an appeal against these crooks.

Google Pepioo to get the full gen on this. They know their stuff.
