I was wondering something similar.

I got a ticket 2 weeks ago for parking on zig zag lines outside my flat - 3 points and 60 quid fine.

Last week I took photos of a cop car parked on the exact same zig zags while they went into the shop below my flat ( same reason I parked there when I got the ticket ).

How can it be one rule for us and one rule for them?

Will post photos tomorrow when I can get to a pc instead of using my phone.

They have immunity in cases where it is the public interest that they do so.

This can be read in "many" ways, the most obvious are speeding to an emergency or kicking a door in when they think someone inside may be in danger or injured.

By the same token, parking on double yellows/zigzags/disabled bays (I have pictures of one parked in there, took it as thought it was funny) depends on how you read the situation: to get to somewhere where a crime is being committed, understandable. To go into a shop to "collect" a shoplifter, makes life easier but not essential. To go into a shop for refreshment (doughnuts) and not be too far away from the car in case of a call, a bit weak, but you know any complaint will come to nothing if that is used as an excuse.

It's annoying when they get away with it and you don't, but sometimes you just have to say s*d it, life's too short to worry about it, and move on.

One thing to remember, if you make a HUGE fuss over it, what would happen? If they're guilty, so are you, whatever happens your fine wont go away, so from your point of view there is no benefit/advantage or plus side.

Hi my dad got 3 points & £80 fine for parking on zigzag he was (Now 1week Deseased) Disabled as he sufferd with a very bad chest, He was taking my mum too work at 7am he pulled up at newspaper shop by bridewell station so mum could run in too collect his morning papers, This morning his chest was really tight thats why he parked their, A female PC drove past just as my mum was getting back into the car the pc swung into a u turn and flagged my late Dad into a side road, Dad wound his window down and she asked him too walk back too her car, Dad explained that he he would struggle at that time too get out and walk back (Car engine was switched off so he was'nt going no where), My mum also explained politely to this female pc how my dad was feeling Dad was 64yr's and Mum 63yr's old, But this pc was very forceful that he had too get out, So Dad did only too be spoken too like a child then too be hit with a fine & Points, So when mum got home after work this was all paid & sadly my Dad passed away 3wks later.
In my view off what happend i think her shift was finishing and she needed her figures so when she reported back it looked like she had done some work instead off sitting off somewhere and just drinking Tea/coffee, It does annoyme sometimes as i know some do a great job and they you have the up an comin ones who want too prove themselves, These ones need too drive down bouragh rd and see the sites down their under the trees, It's a discrace, Instead of targeting respectable people.
Too be fair i did say too Dad he should'nt have parked their, until he told me what had happend.

I think if you complain she'll at most get a talking to, then coincidently you'll end up getting pulled up all the time

All they care about is reaching targets and raising revenue.
Back when I was a private hire taxi driver I picked up a young lad with his dad in Seacombe and he was on my back seat literally gasping for breath and the destination was Arrowe Park hospital ASAP. So yeah OK I did put the foot down somewhat as it seemed to me it was an emergency. Pulled over by a traffic cop and explained the situation hoping for an escort to the hospital with the blues and twos on, but oh no - he insisted on filling in his paperwork for my fine while the lad in my car could have died and said "Well, he should have called an ambulance then"

Some of them should not be in jobs which in any way puts them into contact with the general public and I don't mean they should be given a cushy office number I mean they shouldn't be in any public service whatsoever. They don't have any idea about using discretion or making a decision which might provide assistance to the same people who are paying their inflated wages and pensions. Weed the buggers out.

Sorry to put a mocker on this BUT there is never an excuse for a member of the public to park on Zig Zags and with the greatest respect, the fact that some one has a heart condition and is letting a PASSENGER out does little to affect this. I'm not a copper and have never been one BUT zig zags are being more and more abused these days and they are not there so normal users won't park there leaving a nice clear spot for you to just pop in and get your paper (that rule should also apply to the cops too) in my mind you just shouldn't park on zig zags FULL STOP, if you do you deserve to be done ... end of story.

With regards to the Police stopping there, if so required then okay BUT only if so required (ie to stop a crime give first aid etc etc) I know if I (or say my Granny) was being attacked or needed first aid, I'd be a little miffed if the cops drove passed to find a parking spot.

As to how your Dad was then spoken too I agree this was out of order.

They will record all the time without a doubt. But they may let the Law enforcers (Police) off as it is in the call of duty so to speak.

the police tell you what to do, not what they do. They are, quite literally a law unto themselves, and frequently break laws themselves, like going through a red light on blue flashers - to go to the chippy (see with my own eyes).

If they paid as much attention to the law instead of the politically correct handbook, the country would lose a lot of criminals into the system.

We should be glad we don't live in S. Africa during apartheid. My mate's Dad, who is coloured, was given 5 years for riding his bike without lights. I said "That was HARSH!" He said "Yeah. It's a good job it was daytime-or he'd have got life!! :-)
