Anyone had called from "MacKenzie Hall"? Had 2 of them up to now saying "MacKenzie Hall wishes to speak to you."
That's all, we just put the phone down but I checked on search and it comes up saying it is a credit collection place or some such like (some sort of agency anyway). I think it may just be collecting active phone lines but has anyone else any idea.
I never use credit except for the car anyway.

A good blast of the "Acme Thunderer" whistle down the phone prior to hanging up gives me a warm inner glow !!

If they manage to evade the TPS, they deserve all they get !!

United Utilities sent out there water bills around 10 days ago - or they did for me anyway. They unreasonably IMO hand any unpaid bills over to a collection agency before even 2 weeks is up - they then make the phone call and scare you into paying.
I'm not for one moment impying that you've not paid your bills but they caught me on this a couple of years ago.
That may be the answer

If is a credit/debt collection agency Bandy, it could related to anything, such as for instance, I cancelled my BT line and moved to someone else, after I found out they were overcharging me (they had kindly added lots of line features which I had never requested as I only use the line for incoming business calls and DSL). On the principal, I never paid my final bill (it amounted to £3 something) and a few months later, it got referred to a collection agency.

There is also the possibility they are looking for someone else who they believe (wrongly) may be living at your address, and in the worst case, you could have, at some point, been a victim of ID theft (highly unlikely so don't go worrying about it).

The best way to find out, is to contact them... however, do not agree with, or make a payment on, any debt/account that is not your own or you are unclear about. In fact, ask them to send you written evidence before doing anything about any bill they claim to be yours. If it is regarding someone else's account/debt, just tell them not to contact you in the future.

Cheers Matt, you are thinking along the same lines as myself but there is no contact number or anything the message is just "MacKenzie Hall would like to speak to you." It will be stranger still if no one else is getting the same calls. Oh well, just keep plugging I think. I do all my bills by DD so there is always a record.

Their website looks to be http://www.mackenziehall.co.uk/payment-site/ - however it's up to you if you want to request a callback - the last thing you want to do is go giving your number to them and they start spamming you with calls, however as they already appear to have it, this might not be so much of an issue.

Im trying to find a telephone number for them.

According to saynoto0870.com, they have the following details:

mackenzie hall
0844 411 5630
01563 554540

Could be worth a try (the 01 number will be cheaper and free from mobiles with inclusive minutes than the 08 number).

Have a quick read of this post

My mum gets them all the time (even with TPS), all she does to ANYONE is just say "my son deals with all that", and they tend to hang up. Failing that, ask them to hang on as someone is at the door... then go make yourself a brew, or go shopping...

Cheers folks. I think the best thing for me to do is just ignore them until they come up with something concrete. Have an idea it may be connected to whoever previously had my phone number. I don't owe anybody owt so I'm getting my head round it now. A problem shared is a problem halved. Ta!

Yeah, id imagine if it were you they were after, they would have sent you a letter by now... or they would soon at least!

Cheers Matt, will put that on the back burner and give them a shout on the 01 if they come up again.

My mum has just had a call from a number with just nine zeros in it and no one on the other end, any one know what it is? cheers.

My mum gets those Indian calls on a regular basis, she's 82 and on TPS. She hangs up. I've enquirer with BT about getting call barring but they think it may affect her eldercare alarm system

Quite often these calls are from a BT affiliate selling something. Becasue they are part of BT TPS does not apply, BT will let you pay to ban numbers but what they don't tell you is that the ban does not strecth to the afore mentioned affiliates........... Bar stewards
