Got to say mate, its a bloody lovely car, without a doubt. A Very un-ushual choice for a 20 Year old lad.... Typically a older mans car but i can see why you like it so much. Its MINT.

Must just add, when driving home you looked like you were driving Daddy's car raftl

All in all mate, each to there own and total respect for being different and not listening to other saying its not for you. Lovely choice i got to say......

Lovely lovely car, however,i wouldnt modify it in the slightest, tint the windows and fit large alloys but thats it.What do u plan to do
Posted By: Johnny Alan Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 14th Jan 2006 3:35pm
nah scoop may get the tint done but am going to leave the wheels like they are, may change them for the ones of the xjr model in the near future but for now am looking for somewhere to get my ones ive got now re polished to a mirror finish. so does any1 know of anywere?????
Posted By: Paul R Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 14th Jan 2006 4:20pm
Any sound system going in it?
Posted By: Johnny Alan Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 14th Jan 2006 5:59pm
nope am leaving everything standard except the grille and i may be putting the xjr rim on but that it, i feel that if i think am going to make the car look any better than what jaguar intended then i am a fool.
Posted By: scoop Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 14th Jan 2006 6:04pm
my sentiments exactly, stereo upgrade would be good but it'd have to be done proffesionally,i wouldnt touch jag doorcards just incase, like most doorcards, they get damaged when u take em off
Posted By: Johnny Alan Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 14th Jan 2006 6:42pm
it only got the standard radio casset but i think at one time it may have had a cd changer as it has the controls for it on the unit, maybe the changer broke sometime and they realised a replacment from jaguar was more than its worth, Ive been on ebay and they go for around £30 but i dnt know if the conections are all the same and is the conector part of the cars loom some were underneath the carpet. To be honest i havent got a clue what iam looking for lead wise.

Posted By: Cali_16v Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 17th Jan 2006 6:42pm
rhys you know you will change it given time. you will get bored and start to change things. a standard car is like modeling clay. its not your own work of art until you express yourself and make it how you think it should look.
Posted By: jimbo4x4 Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 17th Jan 2006 6:59pm
Hmmm, very philosophical daz think
Posted By: Johnny Alan Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 18th Jan 2006 6:15pm
I hav learnt that its a waste of cash spending money on a car that is never going to be anything, I didnt express myself when i had the punto i was just bored and had money to waste and wasting money on it eventually became boring to. My punto cost me around the 13500 mark and yet it was still a fiat which i have for sale for 4000 so 9500 is an expensive way to express ur self if that is what ur trying to do which i wasnt.
Posted By: mp3_85 Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 18th Jan 2006 7:18pm
now thats philosophical!
Posted By: DavidB Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 18th Jan 2006 7:24pm
er... How much insurance are you paying on that if you don't mind me asking?!
Looks nice though, very unique!! Have fun changing the rear brake discs.
Posted By: Johnny Alan Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 18th Jan 2006 9:04pm
it £139 fully comp with 2years ncb, as for any work on this car i wnt be doing it, jaguar in lpool will be it going in in a few weeks for its 80 000 mile service at £380 plus vat which i dont feel is to bad considering
Posted By: scoop Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 18th Jan 2006 9:56pm
139 fully comp, surely uve missed a 0,or ur a lot older than u look, 20 sheets short of 400 quid seems quite bad considering to me,whats it entail, cambelt and all associated bits?it better had for that price
Posted By: Johnny Alan Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 18th Jan 2006 11:38pm
yeah it includes parts such a plugs filters etc etc as for the cambelt scoop the engine doesnt have one it has a chain so doesnt need changing for a very long time. smile
Posted By: spinking Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 18th Jan 2006 11:47pm
Scoop insurance dont just go on insurance numbers they go on if the cars going to be stolen and if you are driving a jag then its not getting stolen or crashed ( My sister works for sainsburys so i have inside info wink

Did a little test tonight and if i had a 2wd sap cos or a scooby sti ist more than the jag by nearly £350

PS jag is sweet like it also like the idea of the wheels mate try this number its pro clean (Liverpool 0151 426 1885) polished the pepper pots on my mk1 xr2 got my 2nd in show so they must be good also they are not that much and it you dont like the finish they will do em agin till you are happy.

£139 fully comp?

the cheapest i can get on that car is about £600 fully comp and i got 5 years ncb

yrs daz cheers mate 139 per month lol raftl
Posted By: AX_125 Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 19th Jan 2006 4:36pm
So, nearly £1700 a year. wow, wish i could afford that. It seems to be in a similar price bracket to my car.
Posted By: Johnny Alan Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 19th Jan 2006 5:43pm
yep their such a good car for the money i was looking at getting a newish bmw 730 but non were as good example for the price bracket i set and merks are just ugly lol. Dnt mean this to sound horid but if i got a mr2 or somethin i just look like ive been looking in the £1000 under section in the autotrader lol. People are so shocked when they look at it and i tell them how much they r. And their wasnt many cars that gave that kind of effect. The downside tho is when people see me in it they dnt look at me as if it mine but my dads lol it makes me angry lol mad
Posted By: Jimmy1Pint Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 21st Feb 2006 6:37pm
How much you pay in the end for it??

Posted By: Johnny Alan Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 2nd Mar 2006 12:28am
it was decided that when i got this car i was going to leave it standard, but yet again i have changed my mind, and am going to start my boot buil this wkend, would like a few audiobham or alphasonic subs, it going to be simple eg fabriced mdf, i am thinking snake skin and cream leather to match the interior. I will get some pics once this is near complete, possibly sunday. I am also planning a set of 20's chrome hoops aswell (note the gangsta talk, Hoops lol) just in time for the nationals. Aswell as this am getting the grille meshed and windows tinted. But in the distant future am going to be getting airbags. I want to keep it so it can go bk to the way it was b4 being modded.
Posted By: jimbo4x4 Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 2nd Mar 2006 7:15pm
Plans sound sweet mate! I like!
Posted By: Johnny Alan Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 2nd Mar 2006 7:32pm
change my mind again today, jag getting left as is, and am leaving the hotrod idea. I want a cheap f..k around car, i had one of these few years ago it a 325i, these go really cheap i can get a gud one for about £1000. As soo n as i collect one it will be going straight to petes garage for the bodywork and full respray black which i recon cost about £1000 and the kit ive found on ebay ebay link . So all in all i am saving £3000 now to get all this done and get some 19s. Should be done b4 cw cruise hopefully.

I wouldnt get it but i think with a bit of money for a respray it would look okay, you would have to remove vents, spoiler, and light standard look lot beta and its gota go blk and full retrim and i recon a profesional rebuild. looks like he built his in his garden lol. But i aint gettin that one anyway. I would be inbarrased to advertise that ha ha ha

i looked into one b4 i got me astra, thats the e30 model the one your lookin at! i was lookin at the e36 model!! becareful
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 9th Mar 2006 3:24pm
E30's Rock thumbsup

Theres loads of them round so can be picked up nice and cheap, not the quickest thing in the world, but RWD, and very easy to work on mechanically.

Only worry point is the price of parts, certain bushes are "dealer only" and very expensive, and even some of the aftermarket pattern parts arent cheap frown

Watch for rust on the sills and rear arches and wear on interior trim. Mechanically they are very good, I had a 320i with 230k on the clock and it ran fine (Though it did have a full BMW service history) before I fitted the 2.5 lump.

Spend good money on suspension as they can feel very "soggy" on just lowering springs frown
Posted By: Johnny Alan Re: Punto Driver : jaguar xj6 3.2 sport - 9th Mar 2006 6:44pm
I know all bout them stuy, i had a 325is coupe b4 the punto lol. Befor that i had a 518 i bit slow a was totaly s..t buti love bmw's, and have got to say it but I would love my old 325is back insted of my jag. The drive was not as soft but it felt much better when hanging the arse end out which i did alot off, plus cause i had the is version it come with the lsd. ha ha ha

Look at the 1 on the top of the page in this link, this kind of milage and condition is what i am after, not to worried about the colour cause its geting a full respray, black, red or dolphin grey.

Sorry mate havnt looked at your mmc for a bit.

WHAT THE **** IS THAT SOMBODY NEEDS SHOOTING COS THATS GOT TO BE THE WORST e30 I HAVE EVER SEEN.

Like the idea of you getting a E30 matey. For a couple of hundred more you could get yourself a nice sport lsd and other nice bits kits nice too.

just had it in for a full service today, few problems headgasket needs replacing, both rear diff seals, gearbox seal and clutch. Car is still drivable think head gasket is a very minor leak you can see the scale running down the outside of the caseing but it hasnt been overheatinng. But I feel it is worth getting it all done so it going to sprayforce nxt friday, should only have it a few days. Think I will keep it a bit longer now due to spending this much on it.
