Posted By: Scooby Re: Meesh: Ford Fiesta MK3 - 6th Feb 2005 2:31pm
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.... help

[Linked Image]

The engine & gearbox is all fitted in complete with driveshafts etc etc. The car is rolling so to speak.

Exhaust has been manufactured to fit also, De-Catted.

Whats left to do then ?

Fuel pipes, Coolant pipes and the wiring learn

It dosnt sound much left to do but none of the coolant pipes match up and are all different, The fuel is pushed to the engine on the HCS via electric fuel pump, the CVH engine sucks the fuel from the tank so need to cross that problem and finally the electrical wiring.... Dont laugh but its been about 15 years since i left college and i might have to dig into the odd wiring diagram or so to sus the wiring out, failing that it will be a short journey to a local auto-electrician.

More pics coming over the next few days or so as i get time and will keep you up-dated on the progress.

The engine is running, however some small problems have developed as expected though.....

The electronic fuel pump primes up nicely when the ignition is switched on but thats it, no more fuel supply therefore the engine will start but only run for approx 20 secs. To eliminate this problem we have tempararily connected the fuel pipes to the manual fuel pump and this has worked for now. The fuel tank will probably have to be changed with a carburettor fuel tank and fuel sender without the electronic fuel pump.

The coolant system is working and the coolant fan is operating correctly, however the hot engine coolant isnt travelling through the heater matrix and coolant pipes to the carburettor to operate the interior heaters and the automatic choke. This means the interior heater isnt working and the choke is staying ON and running very rich and fast idle. We need to connect the coolant pipes differently to allow a better coolant flow to these pipes, easier said than done though.....

Appart from that the project is nearly finished.

1/8 mile strip at the nationals was run laugh

got a time of 12.15

Not very happy with it, but the surface was appaling, bumpey, un-even and gritty, struggled to get traction

still, its something to aim for next time!

Also a little update, LED gear knob is now in

I'm also gonna keep the number on me rear window from the 1/8 mile strip on as long as possible too lol I like it laugh

Newer pics to come soon

I know ur plans "unda da hood" meesh and they sound mint. Although RS turbo motor wud be boss. 700 Pound is all it costs to tune the RST motor to 190BHP. A nice reliable 190 aswell. No melting components or rods shootin out of the bottom end. Good luck meesh. Gonna be mint;)
Posted By: Meesh Re: Meesh: Ford Fiesta MK3 - 11th Jul 2005 9:28am
ay? who told ya bout the plan? aint seen ya to tell ya lol

Posted By: neovo1 Re: Meesh: Ford Fiesta MK3 - 1st Oct 2005 6:06pm
if you want it iv got an 16 zetec
Posted By: Dazza Re: Meesh: Ford Fiesta MK3 - 1st Oct 2005 6:14pm
Neovo1 hes not interested, i have a 1.6Zetec and 1.6CVH and still nothing is done
Posted By: scoop Re: Meesh: Ford Fiesta MK3 - 1st Oct 2005 9:01pm
would it be cheaper to

A.Take that XR3 CVH out and bin it and drop an RST motor in or

b.Get all the bits from an RST motor and stick it into the current engine. The only differences (i think) are the pistons, rods, and crank. So get forged pistons, rods and balanced crank. Then get the RST turbo and hosing/exhaust put in,that way you have a reliable motor and you wont have to source and swap a full engine

Or if ya dont do either of them

A.Recon your engine and get it carbed on 45/45s

B.Chuck the 1.6 ZETEC in and get it to 100+BHP on cams and MAF/TB from a bigger lump etc
