fitted my K&N 57i before hardly used it yet and it already makes a sweet rasping noise when i stick my foot down laugh apart from the nice sound, it hasnt made any difference, not that i expected any from a 1.3 frown

I think the sounds worth it tho hun!

What zorst you got on it?
Posted By: Towny Re: Lazy_Ben : Ford Ka - 22nd May 2004 12:18am
on cars under 1.6 and if it aint tuned to ur ecu u will loose mid range torque but the noise is defo worth it!!!

ive been wondering how much it'd cost to get a set of springs and dampers fitted to my car (fron and rear)
anyone got any idea on the fitting price?
Posted By: lazy_ben Re: Lazy_Ben : Ford Ka - 12th Jun 2004 5:15pm
well today ive just ordered a set of gmax springs and dampers to lower my car by about 40mm and a set of 16" Mille Miglia alloys.....wahey, i cant stop smiling now laugh
it should all be fitted within the next week or so
Posted By: Scooby Re: Lazy_Ben : Ford Ka - 12th Jun 2004 7:53pm

they look swish mate smile what size tyres have u gone for?
Posted By: lazy_ben Re: Lazy_Ben : Ford Ka - 15th Jun 2004 4:18pm
my tyre size is a bit odd actually. im gonna get 195/40/16s.
the advantages of having these instead of 195/45/16s are:
*its got the same rolling circumference as the 14" ones ford supply it with.
*i wont need to change the gear ratios
*accelaration will still be pretty much the same (slow)
*they shouldnt rub on the arches

disadvantages are:
*only pirelli, dunlop and continental make them and they cost a fortune (90quid each)
*it'll beharsh ride -now that ive got my new springs and dampers (which lower it 40mm)

but apart from that....its all fun and games laugh

mad i wont b e getting my alloys for a few weeks now mad
the guy said he'd have them in for me today....but he phoned and said a fornight mad
Posted By: jimbo4x4 Re: Lazy_Ben : Ford Ka - 15th Jun 2004 4:39pm
Ben, get the 45s mate, only difference you'll notice is that they'll be closer to the arches. You won't notice the loss in acceleration mate trust me. The difference in size between the 40s and the 45s will be just under 2cm in total height.
Posted By: lazy_ben Re: Lazy_Ben : Ford Ka - 15th Jun 2004 6:58pm
na mate im going for the 40s.....less rubber more style <img border="0" alt="cool" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions049.gif" />
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Lazy_Ben : Ford Ka - 16th Jun 2004 12:16pm
you can get 17 inch tyres cheaper than the 16's ben, why not go for some 17inch rims? might be a little bit more expensive but you'll be saving money when it comes to buyin new tyres? just a thought!

the 16's will look boss with 40's on them tho eek <img border="0" alt="[smokin]" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions036.gif" /> eek

i did think about 17s, but i decided it'd make the car almost undriveable and extremely slow. so im gonna go for 16s.....its all part of the masterplan wink

fair point, whats the performance of it like now though?

the 16's should look great with the 40 profile tho smile

whats next for the masterplan?
Posted By: lazy_ben Re: Lazy_Ben : Ford Ka - 16th Jun 2004 4:18pm
peformance is ok.....cant expect miracles from a 1.3 engine (i dont wanna put 17s on cos i'll get smoked by nova's and metro's - i could never live that down) Although, i did **** my mate up the other day. he tried to overtake me....so i put my foot down and he tried pullin in but i was still next to him for longer than he expected laugh

but as for my masterplan, i wanna go all out smooth and low. no locks, handles, badges or gaps between my tyres and arches.
it might be a while though, the cash is starting to dry up now frown ah, the life of a student
Posted By: PAZ Re: Lazy_Ben : Ford Ka - 16th Jun 2004 8:22pm
Sounds good man, 17s are cheaper and more selection of tyres...

but i think 16s will be for the best....
Posted By: lazy_ben Re: Lazy_Ben : Ford Ka - 17th Jun 2004 1:45pm
just had my springs and dampers fitted today, the handling is absolutely amazing now! the ride's a bit firmer and bouncier, but i can live with that. i'll get some pics up ASAP laugh

They were dirt cheap. 100pound + VAT. so 117.50 all together and they even took them out of the other car for me!
Theyre in mint condition and theyre pretty unique too! Gonna get them put in as soon as <img border="0" alt="happy" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions038.gif" />

they look well nice mate cool

has it effectived performance much with them being bigger+heavier than standard wheels?
Posted By: lazy_ben Re: Lazy_Ben : Ford Ka - 19th Jul 2004 3:51pm
to be honest, it doesnt drive as differently as i expected. there's bags more grip and hardly any body roll, but thats about it. I thought the ride was gonna be a lot firmer and bouncier, but it isnt. The only bad thing is i cant get full lock anymore frown
As for performance, it feels a bit sluggish pulling off, but once its moving there aint much difference.

Havent updated this for a while, but heres a new picture (nice and clean). laugh

[Linked Image]

I recently had a new leather steering wheel fitted and I've got a superchip to go on it as well.

Hopefully I'll be getting some new bumpers soon. Although I'm in 2 minds whether to keep it or get rid frown
Posted By: Dave106 Re: Lazy_Ben : Ford Ka - 6th Mar 2005 5:55pm
looking good mate, no dont sell it ka's are always different and you dont see many around that are modded debage the boot and get some nice subtle bumpers colourcoded and it will look sweet as mate
Posted By: lazy_ben Re: Lazy_Ben : Ford Ka - 2nd May 2005 1:23pm
Got it back a few weeks ago from the body shop.
Had the doors de-locked and mirrors and handles sprayed.

[Linked Image]

The boot was smoothed too, and they fitted a spoiler.

[Linked Image]

I'm fairly happy with their work, although i was ****** off with a few things and will be taking it back to be sorted.
Since having the locks removed, the central locking has gone **** up. Also, it kept on cutting out due to the battery not being re-connected properly (which could have been dangerous if i was on the motorway).
