Yes, another MMC from me grin

The 330 went yesterday, and I got this to replace it - a BMW 530d MSport Touring with a rare manual, 6 speed box smile

Its the later 231bhp engine, with 360ft/lb torque and itdoes go quire well as well as returning, so far, an average of 46mpg smile

Future mods - well, it needs a towbar. It will also be getting a remap to take the power to 270-280bhp and 430ft/lb which should also improve the mpg smile

...at some point, Ill prolly also be looking at getting some tints....

First things first, does it do good burnouts?
Posted By: MrPhil Re: StuyMac - BMW 530d MSport Touring - 21st Jun 2009 5:27pm
Nice, who's doing the remap?

The wheels look tiny in them arches.

Posted By: StuyMac Re: StuyMac - BMW 530d MSport Touring - 22nd Jun 2009 7:36am
A company called Emaps have been highly recomended to do the remap work. My dad has also just bought a new car, so hope to get a discount for getting them dones together wink

Unfortunatly no LSD, so burnouts and donuts wont be happening - If I want to do that kind of thing I have the race car wink

Looks very nice,

Cheap 5/7 series alloys can be found easily as they fit feck all else..

I never bother with BMW rims as they can be hard to shift

These are genuine MSport wheels - not sure of the width of the wheels, but they are 245/45/18 "Runflat" tyres all round omg
Posted By: MrPhil Re: StuyMac - BMW 530d MSport Touring - 22nd Jun 2009 10:03am
Could try this company Stu, www.evolutionchips.co.uk they have a distributor in St Helens called Diva Motorsport, some of the stuff the owner Stu is creating is superb.
Posted By: StuyMac Re: StuyMac - BMW 530d MSport Touring - 22nd Jun 2009 10:45am
Cheers Phil, but Im going off reputation from the BMW forums. A lot of remappers buy the maps and run round sticking them on cars, emaps actually develop their own maps smile

Emaps are also nearly £100 cheaper wink
Posted By: MrPhil Re: StuyMac - BMW 530d MSport Touring - 22nd Jun 2009 11:06am
I can see both your points their Stu, here's some write ups off the site's owner..

http://www.motorsport-developments.co.uk/stus.html

Shame some companys pass off their maps off as their own when their not, suppose some people are more interested in making money than actually helping people.

When I saw this the other night, it looked pretty mean - have you changed the headlight rings?

Xenons make a huge difference, god knows why the rents didnt spec them on the 535, it has pretty much everything else.

It does get the TC and DSC turned off and being a manual I can drop the clutch wink

Yeah, Ive changed the sidelights, for LEDs, not fitted HIDs just yet though...

Its on self levelling air suspension, so no chance of that wink

It was also a BMW option, so you just retro fit them wink

Set about removing the swirl flaps on the BM today. Its a common problem that the screws come loose which hold the flaps to the spindle, and the flaps then drop in to the engine omg

So, eventually, I got round to buying a set of blanking plates to remove the flaps!

Not sure how I felt after removing the flaps....... An inspction showed them to be fine, allbeit covered in black sludge, though it does not give me peace of mind for the future smile

Here are the flaps I removed...

It not that bad to do, I just found it time consuming (2-2.5hours, inc 30mins cleaing the EGR valve) as the scuttle panel has to be removed to get the inlet manifold off and I gave that a good clean around the drainage holes where quite a bit of muck had gathered!

Posted By: Sanchez Re: StuyMac - BMW 530d MSport Touring - 13th Sep 2010 10:18pm
looks like a job worth doing, are these things on all diesels?
Posted By: StuyMac Re: StuyMac - BMW 530d MSport Touring - 14th Sep 2010 8:11am
No mate.

They are designed to speed up air flow at low rpm (they are closed) and then they open at higher boost / rpm.

Drove the car to work today - cant feel any difference in performance, though a small flat spot has now gone, but that may have just been that the EGR needed a clean... think

You should put them in the old DIY electrolysis. smile

They sit under the manifold, so you cant see them when fitted frown

This is the article that shows where they are, problems they can cause, and where the blanks are fitted smile
