please sell this to me when u finished with it
Heh... you got any plan's for it, or is it deffo just gonna be the car to get ye ass about whilst ya workin on the other??
clear indicators and rally fogs
i can see this becoming one hell of a machine
wots the plans for the astra? had three of these they rock
well up to now ive put 256 vented discs on the front from a mk2 1.8, ive lowered it all round and put the gte wheels on it.
Sort out all the rusty bits arches, sills and rust treat the whole car.
i want a gte kit for it and make it fit a 5 door, and have it all dark grey at the bottom half of the car. thats all i want to do to it up to now
ill get some pics tomorrow, just sorting out insurance
Like the mk1 astra's.
Carol nash are good to insure on a classic policy.
Mines £135 fully comp on the volvo.
I think you should rally it...simple as.....its the Way Forward....

slow and steady wins the race, looking good
ha ha ha, what a banger lol !
ha ha ha, what a banger lol !
typical bone head
go on then, explain why it aint a banger, in 20 words
how many 27 year old cars do you see on the road??
looking after "old" cars might not be of much interest to you, but no need to take the piss.
im sure it will get a lot more looks than a modern looking car, even if it is to laugh at it
i think its retro cool
Brightspark, if you ever want to sell the car, I'd 100% buy it off you. When you want to get rid, keep that in mind as I've been looking for one for ages.
I missed out on a standard GTE last year for 500 quid and I'm still gutted.
I really, really want one.

haha your 2nd on the list, i picked my GTE up locally for 450, dont expect much steel there to weld to but its all there and can build from it
i love them, allways wanted one since i was like 15 im 19 now and have 2, ive never seen another one only the ones ive got
best hot hatch of its day, golf gti had nothing on it. keep looking, usually get about 1 every week on ebay

Fairplay, i didn't mean no offence bud, just in a strange mood
no probs u wind up
i drove past you before, this car is cool as fook, i really like it, restore it with a paint job, its deffo a head turner
wow what a classic car them alloys really set it off whata lovely motor mate its lookin nice
You should pop along the meet on thursday, last time you came along I think every one thought you were scotts friend so didn't say much.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm its got me thinking
Needs smaller wheels (with a bit more width) and a bit of lowering.
fook it. leave the lump standard and get it looking nice ( rover ameranth purple) oh yes its looking good my boy good indeed
Needs smaller wheels (with a bit more width) and a bit of lowering.
i agree 17s are to big for a small car, 16s are biggest you should go, its already been lowered once lol and the tyres are 205s
ive also pushed out the belly in the rear pass side door its hardly noticible now woo!
keep at it but take your time, look how well joe has done with his beemer
Thats a nice motor mate, don't see many of these knockin round and its in fairly good nick. I love old school cars, gotta lot more character then all the new stuff. Looked at gettin a chevette a while back an throwin a red top engine in it, old school and drifty!!!
get a shoveit and throw in either the sierrs 2 litre dohc engine or the old 3.5 rover v8 in it, they both fit, and also the astra is looking cool
Love the Mk1 Astras, got so much more character than the new ones.
Any plans for a red top conversion, or even a slightly simpler 2.0 8V transplant from a Cav SRi?
Still 130bhp from the 8V, but Im pretty sure the Mk1 aint that heavy
get a shoveit and throw in either the sierrs 2 litre dohc engine or the old 3.5 rover v8 in it, they both fit, and also the astra is looking cool
do they, any examples ?
...anything will fit if you have enough ££££
The HSR was the Rally daddy, but very unreliable.
The Rover V8 only put out 150bhp, but made a nice sound, and the 8V Sierra DOHC motor wouldnt pull you out of bed - tbh if you where going to fit a new motor to a Chevette, go redtop or Cosworth DOHC and stick them on TBs
...anything will fit if you have enough ££££
so they wouldn't just drop sraight in then, or would they - but with new engine mounts, loom, engine managment, drive shafts etc etc
It would need a custom front subframe, the transmission tunnel may need modding to fit a gearbox to suit the engine, then you need a diff to suit, which may include a new rear axle.
The original car was on carbs, so it would need an ECU and loom, unless you stuck with a carb setup...
Im pretty sure you would need to seam weld the shell also as a std Chevette was never designed to take much power - with the HSR being the exeption but that was seam welded from the factory for rallying.
well i will have a spare 130bhp 8v knocking about when the redtop gets used so was going to put that in the 1300s. not sure yet
if u want RWD fun, get a manta :):)
and fit a c30se out of a senny 24v or a carlton gsi 24v
204bhp straight six beast, inderstuctable engines
........oh and fit a blower :D:D
get a shoveit and throw in either the sierrs 2 litre dohc engine or the old 3.5 rover v8 in it, they both fit, and also the astra is looking cool
so thats abit optimistic then
A Long shot, but does your mum work in Arrowe Park Hospital?
hmmm yep she does
how u know that ?
haha I talk to her most times. She spotted me in my Mini, as I also work in Arrowe Park Hospital, she was talkin about her son into MK1 Vauxhalls etc, and said what you'd done to the car etc, I was thinkin In the back of my mind, I only know 1 Mk1 Vaux round here! So yerh, small world!
well im going off my 17" monsters, so im putting the ronals back on.... this time... white
smooth hammerite mixed with celly thinners worked great!!
cool can't wait to see them on the motor
Mate of mine had one of these.Fitted with a cam and twin 40 dellorto's Went really well.
Best all round wheels would be 16"x9" Borbet A's with a et15 offset.
Spot on. Mark my words.
There similar to the wheels on the lotus carlton if im not mistaken.
Much deeper dish but similar, very euro looking

100% agree, borbets look sooo good, along with BBS, Turbos.. pretty much all the deep dished wheels
its offset which cripples me, u try driving it with ET35s its bad enough
I want one so bad now.
Those one's look amazing
That blue one has a turbo engine in it hasn't it? Think it's being restored again currently.
I think your right station, restored again ??
Honestly......Looks absolutely Superb...
I agree
love these cars but that needs deep dish rims if u ask me,i had a 1.6 sr in gold with bbs cross spokes an it looked great!
looks gr8 bud always loved these cars
I saw you at the roundabout in Caldy on Monday night, I gave you a flash (I was in red Astra).
I think your right station, restored again ??
Yes, it was done out, and then he realised the bulk head needed replacing, so I think he's replacing it. He put up a red GTE mk1 for sale last year for 900 quid, but it got sold.

Sweet what power you hoping for
ill be happy with the bog standard 156 after a good service
some carbs would see it to 170/180 maybe at a later date
oooffffff
If you go straight through with a big back box itll sound naughty. Carbs will just top it off.
Flame spittage

Saw you yesterday at the bottom of Mount Road around 4pm. You were partially obscured by a Focus who was terrified of pulling out onto the main road.

Nice Astray fella, not seen it around before, will keep my eyes peeled!!
Thanks Wal, It's been off the road for about 9-10 months so not likely to see it on the road soon as it needs a fair bit doing to it.
This still on the road?
Finally got one after years of searching.
1300S
