I love them wheels, I think big chunky 5 spokes would suit best tho.

I've got my eye on them lights already, gonna wait till I defo own the car, don't want to tempt fate so to say.

Ive also seen them shocks, bit expensive, so Im looking at these

Chiccy, the head unit I was looking at is a double size one with a big screen

Air Filter

keep it stock, because modding it is stupid. buy a second car and carry on working on that !
Posted By: Waddi Re: Waddi's Mazda Premacy 2.0L SPORT - 17th Feb 2008 10:51am
isnt modding any car stupid, and thats why we love doing it. To make our cars different, to make our cars our own creation.

So what second car would you suggest, the same as every other modded car at a cruise or something a little different, say like a Mazda Premacy.

I will be keeping the body stockish, just wanted new rear lights (would love some LED ones), new alloys, lowered, Exhaust. I was thinking of concentrating on the ICE, but no big subs, more multimedia and entertainment.
Posted By: jonah Re: Waddi's Mazda Premacy 2.0L SPORT - 17th Feb 2008 11:35am
i like the ideas you got waddi, its an unusual car, and would look good as there are not many of these knockin about modded. Thats the reason i do what i do to my vectra, cos i cant afford another car to do up, and even if i could, i couldnt afford to run it, so i go for the cheaper option.. thumbsup
Posted By: Sanchez Re: Waddi's Mazda Premacy 2.0L SPORT - 17th Feb 2008 3:39pm
Its good to mod a car that would suit moddin, but its a people carrier, all im saying mate is that if you are going to spend money on modding your family car, why not keep that money and spend it on a car that would suit being modded !
Posted By: Davey_Martin Re: Waddi's Mazda Premacy 2.0L SPORT - 18th Feb 2008 3:25pm
because his will not be the same as everyone else... instead it will be a people carrier and not a hatch or saloon
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Waddi's Mazda Premacy 2.0L SPORT - 18th Feb 2008 3:31pm
You cant go wrong with a decent set of rims. Maybe lower it a tad to suit.

ICE - if you want music in a car buy something that makes a decent noise when you put your toe in, otherwise, listen to music in the comfort of your home smile
Posted By: Sanchez Re: Waddi's Mazda Premacy 2.0L SPORT - 18th Feb 2008 3:37pm
Its a people carrier, thats all its ment for, carrying people. dont do it mr wad. keep it oem !

I think the point Sanchez was trying to make was:

Ice the car - defen the kids
Performance Mod the car - Kill the kids
Suspension Mods - Kids are uncomfy

...and that if you wanted to mod a car, get something for yourself, that will make you deaf, uncomfy, killed etc laugh

...of course I could be well off the money coffee

The problem is having 2 kids and spare money is impossbile.

I can only afford 2 cars cos i live with my dad again if i was running a house and still with the EX and the baby i wouldn't be able to afford the Cali and the focus would stay standard

the short answer is probably yes.... probly driving round various places with a big smile on his chops lol
Posted By: Waddi Re: Waddi's Mazda Premacy 2.0L SPORT - 20th Feb 2008 12:05am
The short answer is no, today was the agreed day of pickup, I phoned him last night to arrange pick up time and was told he'd sold it to someone else, and after he had told me to arrange insurance and everything, Wigan Sports and Prestige is a Con Man, gets a huge thumbsdown from me.

Granted I didnt put down a cash deposit, but he told me that the car wasnt officially on the books till he had got it back from the body shop, and therefore he couldnt take a deposit, and that he would ring me as soon as it came back, I phoned him on thursday and he still never had it back but would have it back at the weekend. I told him that it would be atleast tuesday before I could get to Wigan due to work and we agreed on that.

Anyway, Im going to see another one tomorrow, again in Wigan, but definately not thumbsdown Wigan Sports and Prestige thumbsdown. same spec, newer reg, same price thumbsup

also got another one shortlisted from Arnold Clark.

The journey is not yet over. joyride

I beleive you're not allowed anything other than std lettering fonts and spacing, and no badges except counrty of registration or EU if its euro.

where do i start....symbol on the left isnt permitted...background also isnt..plus the lettering has to be solid font...not gray filled...plus clai16v spam etc also isnt either...should be dealer postcode...and i betcha the plate doesnt conform to the BES standard ...even without looking at it

need i go on?

So are they just cracking down on modified cars or are they going to be pulling the range rover vogues with LFC badges etc

or one that comes to mind is a certain everton player has EFC on his wrongly spaced reg and an everton badge on the left.
Posted By: Beemertastic Re: Waddi's Mazda Premacy 2.0L SPORT - 22nd Feb 2008 7:32pm
lol..its to do with anpr....the cameras cant read them...any they are doing everyone...lol
Posted By: Waddi Re: Waddi's Mazda Premacy 2.0L SPORT - 22nd Feb 2008 7:39pm
my reg plate now can be picked up by anpr, has correct spacing but has a VXR badge on the left and my website address at the bottom.

how does the badges and footer affect anpr, because these are variants surely its just the spacing and font that's really important.

I know there are regulations, but don't most coppers turn a blind eye as long as your not trying to "pervert the cause of justice". I've been pulled a good few times since having these plates (2005), once for speeding on the motorway and I got a ticket for that, but nothing has ever been mentioned about them, as I say the font and spacing is 100%. its just the border.
Posted By: Waddi Re: Waddi's Mazda Premacy 2.0L SPORT - 22nd Feb 2008 8:03pm

Funny you should say that, the Fella at the dealer Im buying this from (Which is actually on the same road as Wigan Prestige), when I told him about my misfortune, he told me that he was meant to have closed shop 12months ago.

According to www.demonplates.com

Standard, 3D and 3D Carbon are all legal fonts for road use in the UK
Posted By: placidmaster Re: Waddi's Mazda Premacy 2.0L SPORT - 24th Feb 2008 10:48pm
told ya he was dodgy and that came from a conversation with the service manager at road range a few years ago, the prestige bloke broke every rule in the book. plates look cool but no, if a dibble (officer) has not had sex that morning u could be stuffed. there is only two legal fonts in this country for a plate and they are the before september 01 type (bigger letters) and the after sept 01 type and also since about 04 they must have the euro (country) ensign if on a new car. they must also be on a plain background. I have been stopped a couple of times but as soon as i showed I'D and cape town chaos's birth certificate they are cool. also someone nicked my front plate and i had to go through a major process to get new ones made from Z.A, all fun and games!! you will probably be fairly ok tho as u can say if stopped they were on the car and also i would be suprised if u are as they are on your family car and not a mega modded astra or something along those lines.

Audi, are there going to be targets to hit on how many dodgy looking regs you pull, meaning that anything looking remotely not 100% is going to be a tick in a box.
Posted By: Beemertastic Re: Waddi's Mazda Premacy 2.0L SPORT - 25th Feb 2008 1:11pm
lol...theres no numerical targets.....just go pull what you find....

But what should I have printed at the bottom?

Nothing at all leave it blank. After ten pages of number plate talk lets talk about something else maybe?

what sort of set up for lowering the car/mpv are you going for, just t he springs or coil overs, also is it just the back box your changing or the full system from manifold bud ?
Posted By: Waddi Re: Waddi's Mazda Premacy 2.0L SPORT - 26th Feb 2008 12:16pm
Was gonna just change the springs, but now Im under the impression that just changing just the springs on a big car is just asking for trouble with the dampers.

as for the exhaust. Was looking to take it to peco or cybox and get a custom full system with sport cat. Dual exit like Jonah or centre exit.

Who knows till i get it and take it for some quotes...

is a DOHC engine a ford?

withthat

a DOHC (double over head cam) engine just means it has 2 overhead camshafts

Its all engines bud, stands for double over head cam, well all engines that have it that is.

And yer, you'll need the full set up on a big car, speak to some of your mates on the vauxhall sites about the Gsi people carrier they do, im sure some peeps must of played round with the suspension on their mpv's.
Posted By: MrPhil Re: Waddi's Mazda Premacy 2.0L SPORT - 27th Feb 2008 9:11am
Lad my bro works with had to get coilovers due to the 19's he had fitted and the 310bhp out of the Zafira GSi engine.

peace of mind with coilovers is if you don't like the settings it can be changed quite easy. plus they might last longer.

Posted By: StuyMac Re: Waddi's Mazda Premacy 2.0L SPORT - 27th Feb 2008 9:30am
Id just change the springs matey rather than spend a fortune on suspension. Its never going to handle due the to type of car, and Im sure that as its so tall, your not going to be driving it that enthusiastically, so anything more that lowering springs for appearance will just be a waste.

...and sorry to get back to the Plate thing, but check this thread.

Is there a newer model out, design wise? I saw a Mazda yesterday that looked like the same sort of vehicle, but didnt look half as as good or as agressive as this!!

There is the Mazda 5, which is the new premacy, but in the far east they kept the name (premacy). also when the premacy isnt in its sports attire it looks completely different imho.
Posted By: jonah Re: Waddi's Mazda Premacy 2.0L SPORT - 8th Mar 2008 9:47pm

...are you retarded?

Waddi, looks fairly decent with the wheels and a bit of a kit, but if you wanted something sporty - the Premacy wouldnt have been top of my list...
Posted By: Waddi Re: Waddi's Mazda Premacy 2.0L SPORT - 12th Mar 2008 6:27pm
Stuy, I wanted a bigger car for the family, but wanted it to match the astra (1.6) performance wise or better and be similar insurance.

the premacy ticked the boxes for me.

The kit is standard, So im just looking for some alloys now, not sure about lowering it, want to keep the comfort for the kids.

looks like this with the alloys but not lowered
