After some time since my first post about this car, I have finally remembered to get some photos up.
P Reg Vauxhall Vectra GLS 1.8 16v
Current plans:
Set of 17" Alloys
Lowering (maybe)
Clear side repeaters
But apart from that...who knows
Anyway, here it is:
Its the same one my mates got ( the white one) and hes done 125,000 thrashing miles and still going strong (just lol)
They are nice cars and i like your plans not OTT
Keep us posted mate
this is still going strong at just under 181,000
Haha people say the engines are shit but yours and my mates proves them wrong
Iv always had a soft spot for them tho, Dunno why lol.
its the Ecotec engine
supposedly the better one
Nout wrong with Ecotec's, they will last a long time with just basic maintenance, not exactly bullet proof like a derv, but one of the better petrol's!
Lookin nice and shiny now fella, I wont be down the rock tonight, will see it at the next meet though I guess?
didnt say there was anything wrong with the Ecotecs
and yeah, i will be at the next meet, where ever it may be
Lol I know you know that there isnt, just aimed at anyone who think's their shit
there's always someone who hates the ecotec engines
this one's still running strong even at 180k
but i think that this is a recon engine
very nice buy, will have to see this at the meet as it was too cold to go out tonite
Seen this in the flesh today and i have to say it was a BRAGIN
whats a BRAGIN mate
is that the same as a Bargain
Yes mate it would lol, Im thick and cant spell
Also i often type really fast as that should of said "bargin" even tho its still wrong lol Bargain
Still no changes to it. But im the lookout for a nice cheap set of alloys for it
anyway, courtesy of Scott_F.....
This was taken tonight.
It does have a blue dash kit in it, and these pics are on the way. Just need to get them off my digital camera
Thought I would give you a quick update.
MOT Monday 14/07 @ 10am, should fly through it (so i will have the car at the next meet)
And the tyre has arrived for the alloys, so they will be fitted Monday afternoon.
Here's a pic of them:
I have 5 of these now (1 as a spare)
Pics to follow on Monday of them fitted.
Will also put some pics up of the blue dash kit
OMG this is actually updated are you feeling ok
will be updated again tomorrow
alloys look swell mate, hurry up with the mot and lob em on

will get pics wen wheels are fitted
Look good mate...Suit the car..
Even better when shes lowered.
When ya gettin that sorted???
just got to get some money together
looking about a 30 to 40 mm drop
got to do it soon though, because one of my shocks is leaking.
Might as well lower it at the same time as i do the shocks
wheels look smart on the car well worth the trip and well worth gettin soaked for aswell the end result is lookin good and once its lowered it will look better
also... come to the decision.... the tow bar is going
that means ya whole back end of ya car will fall to bits
as its only that holden it together hehehe
had the back end checked before making the decision
we have even planned its removal, and know exactly where the wiring goes too
should be quite easy to do
should be quite easy to do
if u like gettin ya hands dirty which i dnt
will take about 10 mins to remove it from the car, then there's the electrics to take off
Thought i would put a quick update up
Just bought a set of GMAX Springs and Shocks to drop this car 40mm
Should be arriving soon, at a cost of £250
Good stuff Tony, you fitting them yourself?
just got off the phone to him today and he is gonna get a garage to fit these as he is bein lazy
yeh but at least if anything goes wrong, he aint gotta sort it himself, its down to them...
good point jonah forgottin about that bit
got the shocks and springs to do as well as:
rear anti-roll bar bushes
front o/s cv joint
so a garage can have it
I know I haven't updated this for a long time, BUT....
BAD NEWS
RIP VECTRA
At 2am this morning.
Back end of the car slid out on me due to the state of Chester's roads. Icey and NOT gritted
Slid off the road and hit a lamp post head on at about 40mph.
I was under the speed limit !!
Just got back from Chester A&E.
A little sore. The seat belt did its job. Chest is going to bruise quite nicely, and they think I have sprained my thumb, so another bruise due to appear there.
I have pictures of the road (including the icey patches). Going up to the car tomorrow to collect my belongings, and will get photos of whats left of the car.
Emergency services on scene within a couple of minutes (All 3).
Pictures to follow.....
woah, gutted for ya mate, but glad that your still in one piece, at the end of the day its a peice of metal that can be replaced, all that matters is that no-one was seriously hurt.
Emergency services on scene within a couple of minutes (All 3).
i would hope so @ 2am on a wed morning lol
sorry to hear about the car mate!
Gutted matey - at least your still in one piece...
Gutted mate
Could have been worse though.
Ouch... Glad to hear your ok mate
Conditions were getting bad last night, so no doubt you wont be the only one to have something happen to ya.
funnily enough, there were 2 other RTA's in the hospital last night
and the family whos wall i narrowly missed came out at the time and said im not the only person to spin out on that corner last night. but the 1st to actually hit something
not very good news. but it shows the council need to do something about that stretch. at least gritting it would be nice
apparently the damage to the car was quite excessive for a front end smash. i haven't seen it properly yet. head was up my arse at the time
going up to the car this afternoon
its being collected by the insurers in the next couple of days
so i had better get what i need from it
just waiting for a mate to run me up there
will get some up later on
Shit man thats bad, glad ya safe and well, only the car is hurt, as already said, you can get another car no problem.
Where abouts was it? I cant remember exactly where it is as I don't know Chester, but about two years ago on a road towards the city centre part, I saw two cars spin out on the same bit of an icey road in the same night, neither of which seemed to be doing excessive speeds etc...
It amazing how dangerous an ungritted road can be to even the safest of drivers.
sorry to hear about this Tony. like everyone has said you can get another car
the crash was actually mickle trafford which would be the A56 Warrington Road
Leads from Chester through Mickle Trafford and on to Frodsham
Thinking about just getting it out of Autolift and stripping it. Will get more money for it than the insurance is going to give out.
Just need to enquire about release/storage fees and the cost of the recovery from Autolift to my address
Right, i have a load of photos of the scene and one of the car
Just waiting for Scott to email the rest over (my camera battery went dead), then i will have a look through a post a couple up
Pretty big hit that matey!
yeah, im feeling it mate
will get a better idea when i upload the next two, but still waiting for scott to send them to me
Ouch man, you have been quite lucky, as Stuy says its a pretty big smash that, the car is in a horrendus state!!
To add a bit of humor in a bad situation, I bet you are glad you dont
drive a Metro lmao!!
shit mate ...i bet ya feel it today glad your ok mate ...you put a lot of work into it ....it gives you a gud excuss to change ya car now
Fook me, in a pretty bad shape that.
Least you're ok though mate, and yeah, gives you an excuse to change ya car now lol
Gutter for you matey but at least you or nobody got badly hurt
nope. and a bit of advice for you there spinking
vectra's dont make good drift cars
nope. and a bit of advice for you there spinking
vectra's dont make good drift cars
Front wheel drive gayness
Now if it was a 200sx you would be in more pain and prob would of been upside down in your seat when the emerg crews arrived
Strong cars though must admit (dosnt help you feeling gtted though sorry)
Will your insurance pay you out???
hopefully. but my excess is stupidly high
see what happens. they are collecting it thursday
car's been collected from the yard, so awaiting a response from the insurance
need to get my alloys off it once i have heard off them,
so does anyone have any vauxhall steelies with tyres going cheap ?
dont worry about condition
Check the local scrappys mate, even if you can only phone up. See what they have in. Do you think you will try and get the car as well as a payout to break, or you just gonna jib it off now?
Do you have your NCB protected?
no protection on the ncb, its 3 years
getting the car back to break mate.
going to have a chat with the insurers tomorrow about it
Whatever happens with the insurance, best advice I can give in my experience is to stand ya ground and don't let them intimidate you, although ya only gonna need that advice if you decide to claim financially on the insurance of course.
going to have an injury claim going in
my passenger is thinking about doing it too
If one person is doing it, ya may as well both do it (providing the passenger is also injured of course lmao
) as it wont adversely affect you next premium any further iirc.
