Just a little rant about the current system of Universal Credit ... I've only been mentally well enough to look for work recently after a6 month battle to ease my depression /anxiety / heart problems and dizzy spells which led to a broken finger ... Spent 5 of those months with no money due to ATOS Medical and DWP Mandatory Reconsideration / Appeal...

So I signed up for UniversalCredit as my appeal left me with 12 points (needed 15 to continue on ESA) while I begin my search for work (past fortnight to be exact) Been offered 2 voluntary courses (1 I attended 1 I said NO too) and I find the "claimant commitment" to be intimidating and bully like in it's wording and intent (Do 35 hours of jobsearching each week,DO EVERYTHING WE TELL YOU and PROVE IT or we'll cut your benefits!!!) Personally think this government has lost it's marbles and I will be looking for any work just to get away from the narcissistic jobcentre !!!! AAAAAaaaaaRRRRGHHH rant over

Can sympathise with you totally. I have a young relative who has started with mental illness over the last few years and has been sectioned twice. they managed to get on the ESA but part of the illness is thinking you are well--stop meds and bang. They wrote to ESA to say they were fine (which they weren't) ESA immediately stopped benefit. The person wrote back a month later to say they had had to go back on meds but ESA just ignored the letter. So 7 months no benefit getting into debt. Have to go through the hour long telephone claim asking all sorts of questions that even a mentally able person would find difficult to answer. Finally 6 weeks ago they write to him and agree to pay ESA at the reduced rate--still no sign of it. Ring them up and they say he needs a sick note (despite having sent one in). They must be on targets NOT to pay. benefit. No wonder people getting homeless and committing suicide. I hate benefit scroungers but would like to think any tax and NI contributions I make at least go to people who need it.

Another cleaning job in this weeks Globe Upton Care Home 35hrs week 8 til 4 call 07985 422691

It's shocking what the DWP / ATOS are getting away with (for now) !
Sure there are 100's of thousands of genuinely ill people now forced to either go hungry , crawl into a corner , stay in a psychiatric ward /commit crime / get sent to prison or worse commit suicide due to the current system where there truly aren't enough jobs for everyone of employable age (was told that FACT at the JobCentre)

Inhumanity workers they should be called at ATOS/DWP caring&working only for the super rich ,corrupt government and monarchy to hoard and invest the billions of pounds for their own luxurious needs !

Makes me feel physically sick !! what what

Mental Health Services have never had their resources so 'strangled' and yet at the same time demand for Services has increased as a direct result of this Coalition.

Hi Gary.

Overchurch School looking for a cleaner but hours only 9.5 per week. hardly worth the hassle of getting there every day for couple hours work.

Sorry to hear of your woes Gary, good luck in your searching and progress.
Remember, Nil Illegitimi Carborundum.

Don't forget to vote to get Esta McVile and her party out!

Quote Gary " They must be on targets NOT to pay benefits "

Not a bad assumption Gary, did you see the CH 4 expose on Universal Credits . Absolutely outrageous that they are deliberately told NOT to tell people about 3 hardship type benefits , UNLESS those people mention it first. (Then of course , the conniving top knobs blame the call centre staff for getting it wrong)

Giving evidence to MPs on the work and pensions select committee, Esta McVay repetedly stated that there were definately no targets. Even though several whistle blowers state that there are. But the chair of the committee and MP for Aberdeen South, Dame Anne Begg, said it seemed the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) had no significant evidence that sanctions were working and that they affected a group of people who the minister admitted were particularly vulnerable. “Just because it is working for the majority, if we are to accept your argument, doesn’t mean its working for that small group,” she said. Having watched the interview, it was clear that Dame Anne Begg all but called McVile a liar. It is also clear to me that staff at the DWP are following instructions from above, even if they don't agree with the rules.

So much hate for the Tories, sad that. Stop blaming others, whatever society you live in there will be winners and losers, face fact!

Hi DJDuck, i agree about it being sad, in the decades ive been a voter i have never known such a hateful group of individuals whose barbed comments are designed to to neighbour on neighbour. Even during Thatchers time I didnt feel as much anger towards the Tories as I do today. They only have themselves and their lies to blame. I know all politicians stretch the limits of truth but this lot take the crown.

They are all tarred with the same brush ! You can protest, sign petitions and vote for who you like but in the end they will always do whatever suits them no matter what party are in. I have no idea what the alternatives are but they are all in it to line their own pockets.
