Great to see a post like this Chris, and knowing you I am sure they will get something really worthwhile out of it. If you get no luck let me know I have loads of contacts in the education/welfare to work industry / training companies...I might be able to put a ambitious young'un your way.
After reading some incredibly narrow minded and frankly disgusting posts on this forum over the last few days I was about to discontinue my membership, but seeing your post I feel like I might just stay!
Hope you get someone soon.

Just to check Chris, will this be a genuine apprenticeship, run under the government Apprenticeship scheme in conjunction with training towards a nationally recognised qualification, or is it merely a way of getting a cheap dogsbody; if it is the latter, I'm not sure you are allowed to pay less than NMW, the apprentice minimum wage only applies when the employee is on a proper apprenticeship.
The reason you have to be running a proper government approved apprenticeship scheme to qualify for the AMW is to protect employees from employers simply listing jobs as "apprentice" just to avoid paying NMW. (you can just see the likes of Tesco cutting their wage bill in half by taking everyone on as apprentice shelf-stackers for 4 years, then changing them to apprentice stock replenishment technicians for 4 years, then to apprentice inventory co-ordinators for 4 years etc lol).
It seems unclear from the OP and I wouldn't like to think someone would be getting taken advantage of.

You have you be a dogs body for at least a year to figure out the builing blocks and basically get conditioned into the way the job goes. For an electrician I spent a large ammount of time just watching and cleaning up. The spark I was with showed me so much but most companys cannot run without that cheap aid....
Uncertainty or not knowing causes depression, Im happy because I know I'm going to die one day!

Yes, I've done an apprenticeship myself many moons ago (though tbh it was a lot more training to do the job than dogsbody work lol), but what I worried about is that this may not actually be an apprenticeship, and that the employer thinks you can just label a job with the word apprentice and pay AMW instead of NMW - which I am not sure is actually legal?
