No doubt, so that they can sell it. or pass it over to National Museums and Galleries, which might not be such a bad idea. Could see a few more over healthy redundancy pay offs to balance the books!!!

Opened in 1928, been through a world war, and probably the only little gem remaining in Birkenhead, that's worth a visit.

Maybe they should consider closing a couple of golf courses!

"a more exciting art gallery" Wtf? There is nothing wrong with it the way it is now! Leave it be.

If they want more interest at the gallery maybe school visits there for history lessons?

Get the police to sort the local riff raff out first though as there is far too much criminal activity going on around there these days.

I can see more cuts to come now that the vote for a "super council" has gone through.

raftl Did you say 'balls'
Unfortunately, Hoylake is a Golf Club rather than a council Golf Course, so it can't happen there. Quite sure they will drag in droves of volunteers for the 'Open' though, which helps to show willing in keeping the costs down, whilst those in command hob nob in all their splendour and finery, whilst looking forward to the end of shpw party, which according to their latest dilemmas, should be affordable!

Sorry for error on previous last line...should read 'shouldn't be affordable' (can't see too well at the moment).

The following, are the things we tend to forget about. How anyone (the nameless person at the bottom of the page) is allowed to take £150,000 rather than return to their job, which was obviously open to them, is baffling. It must pay to be naughty?

http://www.wirralglobe.co.uk/news/9991306.print/

and yet, they might have to close the Williamson. frown

Update on Williamson Art Gallery

http://www.wirralglobe.co.uk/news/1...illiamson_Art_Gallery_and_Museum/?ref=mc

How does it work? Spend £1.25 million on refurbishment (where did that come from ?) Now seek to save £400,000 over two years. Asking for volunteers to help staff it? Does that mean more loss of jobs plus redundacy pay off's for some unfortunates.
Then blame everyone but themselves.
It's a bit like going out to buy a new carpet, knowing full well that the gas bill is due, but you don't know how much for. When it arrives, you haven't got the money to pay, so blame the carpet company because they must have charged too much. Then get rid of the parrot, because it costs too much to feed!
Any building with space can be utilised for the benefit of.So why doesn't someone put their thinking caps on and decide on something. Surely they have the ability to do that? What happened to the Sunday afternoon concerts, why not bring some more modern music into it and have music workshops or similar.Art workshops, photography workshps.People would be happy to pay for those,I believe. Just takes a bit of organizing.
