Does anyone have any experience of the above ? Not many good reviews online about them, so just wondering how our local branch might be.

They have a good sale offer on at the moment, but not much good if the service is not what we expect.

Thanks

Hi Granny Having fitted more kitchens than I can remember some info,
Homebase / Wickes and B&Q have major problems at point of delivery your kitchen will arrive incomplete, customer services will promise the earth to get your shortages you may wait weeks / months the record is 11 months. It only gets worse during sale periods they will continually lie to you.

If a customer has chosen a fitter and he is an account holder at the major suppliers he will be offered substantial discounts up to 70%, will he pass that onto you lets say he does and gets your job.

He may then get a call from the store thanking him for the business so before you get the final price the fitter may be asked does he wants to add a bit on for himself ie £250 / £500.

The day I ever agree with that will never happen, good luck in your quest.
If I could name a company for customer service and price (dependant on fitter) Howdens in Moreton you get a personal service

Hi Granny. As salty tom says .My experience of a new kitchen and bathroom from B+Q a few years ago. Supply only price wasn't too bad, fitting costs by B+Q was double what we paid our own kitchen fitter to do. And yes they were a door short on a kitchen unit--I managed to find one in Warrington B and Q weeks later--more than the store in Bidston could do for me.

We bought a kitchen from Wicks, they had a list of fitters to choose from so we got a few estimates, the one we chose was based on the fact we had a curved wall & he was the only one that could fit the units & tile the wall as the others were going to leave the space blank. The kitchen came flat packed & they rang ahead an hour before it was delivered. We found Wicks to be the best out of B&Q & Homebase.

Thanks for all welcome advice. It's a bit of a minefield when taking everything into account.
Also looking at free standing units, which are more expensive but better quality, no fixing and should arrive with all parts attached.
Will certainly take on board all of your comments.

Many thanks.

Thanks Colgo.
Been quietly going bonkers over the last 24hrs. Still looking at ideas now. Everything is either paper thin or expensive, beyond belief.
Might just go for shabby chic, it's already pretty shabby so a few gingham curtains and a pot of flowers could work wonders ! Only joking. The whole thing scares the pants off me.
Desperate for a new cooker before this one blows up. My mum (bless her heart) tried to clean top oven a bit.. with a knife, and succeeded in putting the point through the thing. That must be about 10 years ago, she's been dead for 5yrs. Since when, if it is turned on the whole house fuses ! The bottom oven is disintegrating shocked
Just another something, to add to the catalogue of disasters in this life. laugh
