Why are we gradually being left behind in Wirral ? When they have money it's spent on events , when they don't they cry out aloud , trying to make us all feel guilty.
What happened to the experience that the council use to bring in new businesses. What is happening in Wirral ?
At the same time look what's happening in Hastings, Labour Council and population 90,000.
Population Wirral 320,000. We have 'Bubbles' and a clown. I suppose all the teenagers and young mum's should be thankful for 'Bubbles' !!!!!

Hastings isn't a metropolitan council, it is part of East Sussex County Council with a population of 527,000.

However, the North is being left behind as always.

Its about time Merseyside Police became properly part of the community and get the majority of its population back on side so that crime and anti-social behaviour can be reduced.

Looking at that concrete table tennis on the where-am-I thread reminded me that there are many large areas of Wirral where that wouldn't last ten minutes before being vandalised and these are the very same areas that need employment and facilities but any enhancements are fighting a losing battle.

At the same time, East Sussex covers 660 square miles, Wirral covers 60 square miles. I'm not sure what your point is DD ?

I think we live in our own blinkered bubble.

Crime for Wirral

Street-level crime and anti-social behaviour in December 2015 from the Home Office.

To protect privacy, crimes are mapped to points on or near the road where they occurred.
.
All crime & ASB 525...................

Hastings, East Sussex, TN34 1BA. had 498 crimes reported in December 2015.........................

Concentrating on Hastings. A new pier to be opened this year too.

Not too sure about the postcode comparison, but I see where you are coming from. That Hastings postcode is right on an office block and the railway station, both of which can distort the stats.

The pier is not new, but is the old one being repaired and revitalised. If you look down the prom you will see that the baths are being repaired and revitalised as well.

The BMX park seems to be underneath the walkway of the prom. That is to say that it seems to be an area that has been repaired and revitalised as well. There may be a comparison with Brighton seafront here in terms of the archectiture - in the area where they use for classic vehicle displays and other events. A bit like we did in the sunken car park and similar locations in New Brighton where we let them pull it all down.

Only comparison might be to build a BMX park under the New Palace. At least the Tower Grounds got a playground on it.

As you rightly say in the header "Why Not Wirral?"

The BMX park at Hastings used to be White Rock Baths. Turkish baths at one time. There just doesn't seem to be any vision left in Wirral. Flat as a pancake. Oh yes, plenty of places to eat pancakes and drink wine.

Funnily enough, I got exactly 498 for a Birkenhead postcode I used as well, that site isn't working properly.

Birkenhead had 1040 crimes in December 2015.
Wallasey had 701
West Wirral had 236
South Wirral had 342

Making a total of 2319

Hastings had 256

What is the percentage ?

Yes, you're right. Why should Wirral have anything that is to be enjoyed by those who could ? It seems there is little point in doing anything in Wirral.
What a horrible place we live in.

Birkenhead crime 1.16%
Wirral 0.72%
Hastings 0.28%

So crime rate in Birkenhead is about four times higher than Hastings.

Until the police let the community work with them we are going to get nowhere.

The difference is, we surely don't have to have every blessed thing in either Birkenhead or Wallasey districts ? Large developments would be secure anyway.
