Tesco packages up broadband for £2.50 Tesco has launched an 'unlimited' broadband package that costs just £2.50 per month in the hope of wooing customers from more established internet service providers. The deal, which launched on Tuesday, will cost £2.50 per month for the first year, after which it will increase to £6.50 per month. Phone line rental is not included in the deal — but is a pre-requisite of signing up — and adds £13.75 a month to the total bill. All Tesco broadband packages are provided on an "up to" 20Mbps basis. The service is billed as 'unlimited' but users are subject to a fair usage policy that can come into effect if people regularly exceed 100GB of downloads per month. Source click me

£13.75 per month, oowwwww much??!!
o2 do landline rental for £7.50 a month!! Primus do it for £6 something a month. Iirc, the cost of a landline from Openreach is £7.28 a month to telcos, so they're not losing much, if anything, and any loss incurred being able to market the "wow" price certainly works out far cheaper than a customer gain would via a huge publicity campaign. They're still taking £8.97 a pop on the broadband connection.
Shall be interesting to see what the call charges are...
